Job Overview: The position of Intern at the Education Outcomes Fund (EOF) involves supporting the Learning and Engagement team in exploring outcomes-based financing (OBF) programs for Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), basic education, and skills-for-employment. The intern will engage in research and knowledge generation around OBF in education, assisting in the development of technical briefs and learning materials. The role also includes building relationships with peer organizations, managing logistics for events, and contributing to community building within the education sector. The intern will be expected to work during UK hours and may have the option for remote or hybrid working arrangements.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Conducting research and generating knowledge around outcomes-based financing in education, including supporting the development of technical briefs and learning materials.
Assisting the Learning and Engagement team in building and managing relationships with peer organizations and knowledge partners, which involves scheduling calls, attending webinars, and documenting key takeaways.
Providing logistical support for events attended by EOF, including researching events across sectors related to OBF, ECCE, basic education, and skills for employment.
Mapping key stakeholders and networks within the education sector to enhance community building efforts.
Contributing to the overall mission of EOF by supporting innovative financing solutions that aim to improve educational outcomes for underserved populations.
Required Qualifications: To be eligible for this internship, candidates must meet the following essential qualifications:
Enrolled in a degree program at an undergraduate or graduate level, or a recent graduate within the last two years.
Demonstrated excellent academic performance as evidenced by recent university or institution records.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Fluency in English is required. Additionally, candidates must not have immediate relatives working in any UNICEF office or in the line of authority that the intern will report to. Desirable qualifications include a degree in a relevant subject such as education, economics, development studies, political science, public policy, or finance, along with experience or interest in international development and the global education sector.
Educational Background: Candidates should be enrolled in or have recently completed a degree program in a relevant field. Preferred areas of study include education, economics, development studies, political science, public policy, finance, or related disciplines. Academic excellence is a key requirement, as demonstrated by recent records from the candidate's educational institution.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have some level of experience or interest in international development, particularly within the global education sector and international aid. While specific prior work experience is not mandatory, any relevant experience will be considered an advantage. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment is essential, as is the capacity to manage a high workload with strong attention to detail.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, proficiency in other languages such as French, Spanish, or Arabic is desirable and will be considered a plus during the selection process.
Additional Notes: The internship is expected to start in September or October 2025 and will run for six months. Candidates must commit to a full-time internship for the entire duration. The internship will be based in London, with remote and hybrid working options available. A monthly stipend will be provided, determined by the candidate's location according to UNICEF's rules and regulations. Interns will receive USD 1,700 per month in specific locations such as New York, Geneva, and Copenhagen, or 70% of the monthly salary of the GS level 3 step 1 in other duty stations.
