Job Overview: The Consultant for the Hamro Sahas Community of Practice will play a pivotal role in coordinating and facilitating a transformative program aimed at supporting feminist movements in Nepal. This position involves working closely with UN Women and various partner organizations to design and implement learning sessions that promote gender transformative change. The consultant will be responsible for developing concepts for community of practice sessions, coordinating with partners, and ensuring that participatory approaches are integrated into the sessions. The role also includes facilitating workshops, building community bonds among participants, and creating a repository of resources and knowledge products. The consultant will report to the Programme Specialist for Gender Inclusive Governance and will engage with diverse stakeholders to strengthen the capacities of women's rights organizations (WROs) and feminist organizations in Karnali, Madhesh, and Lumbini Provinces.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for the overall coordination of the Community of Practice (CoP) alongside the International GESI Coordination Consultant. Key responsibilities include:
Collaborating with UN Women and partner organizations to prepare framing and concepts for each CoP session.
Coordinating session preparations with partner organizations, ensuring participatory approaches are utilized, and fostering collaboration among contributors.
Facilitating sessions and in-person workshops as needed, ensuring effective engagement and learning.
Developing detailed methodologies and concepts for workshops in collaboration with UN Women and partners.
Creating a repository of resources and knowledge products related to the CoP.
Encouraging community building through active engagement in discussions and sharing of resources.
Supporting the identification of external speakers and contributors for sessions.
Reporting on progress and outcomes to the Programme Specialist.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in gender studies, social sciences, political science, economics, communications, journalism, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. The consultant should have a strong understanding of gender equality and social inclusion, with at least 5 years of relevant work experience. Experience in designing and implementing learning sessions, capacity building initiatives, and workshop facilitation is essential. Familiarity with the Nepali women's movement and feminist organizations is crucial, as is the ability to support partnership building across organizations. Knowledge of social norm change and communications for development is also required, along with experience working with UN Women or the UN system being an asset.
Educational Background: A Master's degree or equivalent in gender studies, social sciences, political science, economics, communications, journalism, or a related field is required for this position. Languages: Fluency in English and Nepali is required for this position. This bilingual proficiency is essential for effective communication with diverse stakeholders and for facilitating sessions and workshops in both languages. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an advantage but is not mandatory.

The consultant will coordinate with the Programme Manager regarding travel arrangements. The position is expected to involve a significant amount of collaboration with various partners and stakeholders, and the consultant will be expected to adhere to UN Women's policies and procedures, including those related to conduct and integrity. The role is designed to be flexible, allowing for remote work while also requiring in-person engagement during workshops and sessions.
