Job Overview: The intern will be located in the Civil Society Unit of the Governance Affairs Office within UNEP in Nairobi. This unit plays a crucial role in supporting the engagement of Major Groups and Stakeholders in governing issues related to the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) and UNEP-led activities. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Associate Programme Management Officer and will be involved in various tasks that support the office's mission. Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's responsibilities will include supporting the preparation of website updates, which involves adding and editing accredited organizations, uploading documents to the repository, and editing the contents of civil society webpages. Additionally, the intern will assist in the registration processes for various meetings, including managing the list of participants. Another key responsibility will be to develop and conduct a series of client satisfaction surveys, analyzing the feedback to improve services, particularly for the Committee of Permanent Representatives. The intern will also draft accreditation memos for organizations that have submitted requests for review and support effective communications with accredited UNEP Major Groups and Stakeholders in accordance with UN mandates and guidelines. Furthermore, the intern will manage internal databases related to Major Groups and Stakeholders and undertake other tasks as requested by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have undergraduate studies in fields such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Software Engineering, Data Science, or Cyber security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security. Additionally, candidates must either be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). Graduates with a university degree are also eligible to apply.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes being enrolled in a graduate program or being in the final year of an undergraduate program in relevant fields such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Software Engineering, Data Science, or Cyber Security. This educational foundation is essential for the intern to effectively contribute to the tasks assigned within the Civil Society Unit.
