Duties and Responsibilities: Online Volunteers will be assigned to focus on one specific UN agency operating in Iraq. Their responsibilities will include: conducting thorough research on the thematic areas, strategic priorities, and ongoing programmes of the assigned agency in Iraq; identifying potential areas where UNV’s onsite and online volunteer modalities can add value; mapping out potential entry points for collaboration that align with UNV’s range of services. Each volunteer is expected to deliver a weekly report detailing opportunities and recommendations for initiating engagement with the agency, ensuring that their findings contribute to the overall mission of enhancing volunteer involvement in UN operations.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize information effectively. They should demonstrate a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for volunteer engagement and possess a good understanding of the UN system and its operations. Familiarity with the socio-political context of Iraq and the specific challenges faced by UN agencies in the region will be advantageous. Additionally, volunteers should be comfortable working independently and managing their time effectively to meet reporting deadlines.
Educational Background: A background in social sciences, international relations, development studies, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should ideally be pursuing or have completed a degree at the undergraduate or graduate level, which provides them with the necessary theoretical knowledge and understanding of the UN's mission and objectives.
Experience: While prior experience in volunteer work or with UN agencies is not mandatory, any relevant experience in research, project management, or community engagement will be considered an asset.
