Job Overview:
The Enterprise Adviser position is designed to provide professional-level enterprise advisory services, including conducting independent assessments against labor standards and offering consultancy services to support remediation and enterprise improvement. The role is crucial in enhancing enterprise performance and facilitating access to markets. The Enterprise Adviser will work closely with various stakeholders, including enterprises, international buyers, and government ministries, to ensure that labor standards are met and improved. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges within the labor market, particularly in the context of Bangladesh's ready-made garment sector, which is a significant part of the country's economy.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Enterprise Adviser will independently conduct assessments of labor standards and management systems at the enterprise level, producing high-quality reports that include assessment findings, recommendations for improvement, and progress reports on implementation. The role involves providing enterprise-level consultancy services aimed at improving performance, coaching management and union committees, and delivering training. The adviser will also adapt Better Work products for individual enterprises, contribute to the project's monitoring and evaluation strategy, and assist in building the capacity of national constituents. Additional responsibilities include reviewing reports from other advisors, contributing to financial sustainability strategies, and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in fields such as international development, law, occupational health and safety, industrial engineering, industrial relations, gender studies, human resource management, or adult education. Equivalent experience may also be considered. The position requires excellent communication skills, both oral and written, as well as strong analytical abilities. A good understanding of Bangladeshi labor laws and regulations, industry relations, and social dialogue is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate good facilitation, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills, along with the ability to work in a multicultural environment.

Educational Background:
A university degree in relevant fields such as international development, law, occupational health and safety, industrial engineering, industrial relations, gender studies, human resource management, or adult education is required. Equivalent experience may also be accepted, indicating that practical knowledge and skills can substitute formal education in some cases.

Experience:
At least two years of professional experience in areas such as social dialogue, capacity building in the private sector, corporate social responsibility, occupational health and safety, and industrial relations is required. Experience in labor standards compliance and remediation is particularly valuable, as is familiarity with the challenges faced in developing countries.

Languages:
Candidates must have an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Bengali. Proficiency in these languages is crucial for effective communication and reporting in the role.

Additional Notes:
The position is a Special Short Term contract with a duration of 4 months. It is important to note that technical cooperation appointments are not expected to lead to a career in the ILO and do not carry any expectation of renewal or conversion to other types of appointments.
