Job Overview: The UNV Logistics Associate will play a crucial role in supporting the logistics team at UNICEF by coordinating and implementing supply chain operations. This position involves data entry for COGAT approvals, maintaining records, and ensuring timely follow-up on required approvals. The associate will also assist in collecting and analyzing technical data to forecast supply chain needs, thereby making evidence-based proposals. The role requires participation in enhancing the efficiency of supply chain actors in various aspects of commodity management, including handling, storage, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Additionally, the associate will track and monitor the delivery status of local Purchase Orders (POs) and submit regular reports to provide an overview of supply chain operations, including inventory management and distribution.
Duties and Responsibilities: The UNV Logistics Associate will be responsible for the following tasks:
Data entry for COGAT approvals on the UN 2720 Portal, coordinating with stakeholders to gather required documents, maintaining records, and ensuring timely follow-up until approvals are received.
Assisting in the collection and analysis of technical data from various sources to forecast supply chain operational needs and make evidence-based proposals.
Participating in strengthening the efficiency of supply chain actors in commodity management, including handling, storage, packaging, transportation, cold chains, and compliance with regulatory authorities.
Tracking and monitoring the delivery status of local Purchase Orders (POs) in coordination with the Procurement team to plan for the receipt of goods into warehouses and their transportation to beneficiary locations.
Submitting regular reports to provide a continuous overview of supply chain operations, including inventory stock quantities, incoming goods, warehouse stocks, and distribution activities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate professionalism and a strong understanding of operations relevant to UNICEF. They should possess technical capabilities or knowledge that is relevant or transferable to UNICEF procedures and rules. Discretion, political sensitivity, diplomacy, and tact are essential for dealing with clients. The ability to apply good judgment and liaise with various actors, especially in senior positions, is crucial. Candidates should also exhibit a high degree of autonomy, personal initiative, and resourcefulness, along with the willingness to accept wide responsibilities and work independently under established procedures. Furthermore, they must manage information objectively and confidentially, be responsive and client-oriented, and demonstrate integrity by adhering to the values and ethical standards of the UN and UNICEF.
Educational Background: A relevant educational background is required for this position, typically including a degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field. Candidates should have a solid understanding of logistics and supply chain principles, as well as familiarity with UNICEF's operational procedures and regulations.
Experience: Candidates should have prior experience in logistics or supply chain management, ideally within a humanitarian or development context. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is highly desirable. The role requires a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and work under pressure, with conflicting deadlines.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both spoken and written. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication within the local context and with stakeholders. Additional languages may be considered an asset, depending on the specific needs of the position.
Additional Notes: This position is offered on an initial 6-month contract, with the possibility of extensions based on funding availability, operational necessity, and satisfactory performance. However, there is no expectation of renewal of the assignment. The role provides a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of ILS 6730 per month to cover housing, utilities, and normal living expenses. Additionally, life, health, and permanent disability insurance are included, covering health insurance for up to three dependents, as well as final repatriation and resettlement allowance for satisfactory service.
