Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position focuses on supporting the implementation of the National Hydrogen Strategy of the German government, specifically in the context of establishing a global green hydrogen economy in India. The intern will contribute to the development of this new economic sector by engaging with companies, political institutions, and civil society to promote sustainable economic development. Key functions include providing technical and strategic advice on political and regulatory frameworks, capacity building, identifying and developing Power-to-X (PtX) projects, and fostering investments in green hydrogen solutions. The project also involves analyzing international experiences and developing recommendations for policymakers to implement India's National Hydrogen Mission, as well as facilitating knowledge exchange at both national and international levels to provide companies with informed decision-making tools regarding the use of green hydrogen in hard-to-abate industries. The role requires close collaboration with public and private stakeholders, as well as national and international partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As an intern, you will support the team both substantively and organizationally in the execution of the project related to the aforementioned topics. Your responsibilities will include conducting research, organizing events, and assisting with public relations efforts. Specific duties include:
  • Supporting the dialogue on Power-to-X concepts, particularly green hydrogen, in the context of national and global energy transitions, collaborating with political, scientific, and private sector actors in the energy, climate, and raw materials sectors in India.
  • Researching, analyzing, and preparing information tailored to target audiences on topics such as renewable energies, hydrogen, Power-to-X, and energy efficiency.
  • Assisting in the preparation of contracts, including budget overviews.
  • Supporting the conception, organization, and execution of specialized events, dialogue formats, and workshops.
  • Aiding in daily project management tasks, such as preparing for and following up on internal meetings, taking minutes, and organizing appointments.
  • Contributing to public relations efforts by creating informational materials, graphically presenting content (e.g., infographics), or assisting in studies and publications.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should be enrolled in a degree program from the sixth semester onwards in fields such as energy, economics, environmental science, political science, engineering, or natural sciences, or in comparable disciplines. Knowledge in renewable energies, green hydrogen, Power-to-X (PtX), and the decarbonization of industrial processes is advantageous. Previous practical experience (e.g., through internships, student assistant positions, or academic projects) in renewable energies, hydrogen economy, industrial transformation, or energy policy is desirable. Experience with GIZ partner countries, ideally in India, is a plus. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work in an intercultural environment, possess strong conceptual and analytical skills, and have an interest in the intersection of technology, politics, and economics. Additionally, a self-directed and structured working style, along with good organizational and communication skills, is essential. Proficiency in MS Office (especially Word, PowerPoint, Excel) is required, and candidates must have fluent German and English language skills, both written and spoken.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to be currently enrolled in a university program, specifically from the sixth semester onward, in relevant fields such as energy, economics, environmental sciences, political sciences, engineering, or natural sciences. This educational background is crucial as it provides the necessary theoretical foundation and knowledge base for the tasks and responsibilities associated with the internship.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have some practical experience in the field, which can be gained through internships, student assistant roles, or academic projects. This experience should ideally relate to renewable energies, hydrogen economy, industrial transformation, or energy policy. Familiarity with GIZ partner countries, particularly India, is also beneficial, as it indicates an understanding of the local context and challenges.

Languages:
Fluent proficiency in both German and English is mandatory for this position, as the intern will be required to communicate effectively in both languages in written and spoken forms. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not explicitly required.

Additional Notes:
The internship is available for a duration from September 22, 2025, to March 21, 2026, and can be either full-time or part-time. Candidates must be currently enrolled in a program that requires an internship as part of their studies or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship. The monthly stipend for interns is €2,205.04 (gross), and an additional monthly allowance will be provided based on the country of assignment, as determined by GIZ. The organization promotes equal opportunities and encourages applications from individuals with disabilities.
