Job Overview:
The consultancy position aims to co-lead the Qualitative Impact Protocol (QUIP) component on the long-term effects of the Mozambique Child Grant. The role involves conducting qualitative research to assess the impacts of the Child Grant Pilot, which targets children aged 0-2 years old. The consultant will be responsible for various phases of the research, including inception, data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings. The position requires collaboration with local stakeholders and the facilitation of workshops to gather insights and feedback on the research findings. The consultant will also be involved in training enumerators and ensuring the quality of data collected during the research process.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's responsibilities include conducting a desk review and preparing for a scoping mission, facilitating stakeholder workshops, developing an inception report, training enumerators, supervising data collection, conducting analysis of transcripts, drafting reports, and preparing for validation workshops. The consultant will need to manage the ethical review process and ensure that all data collection adheres to ethical standards. Additionally, the consultant will be responsible for disseminating findings through presentations and reports, ensuring that the research contributes to evidence-informed policy making.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's or higher) in sociology, anthropology, public/social policy, public health, education, or a related field. They should have at least 5 years of professional experience in qualitative research and evaluation, particularly in low- and middle-income contexts, with strong fieldwork and qualitative data collection skills. Excellent analytical and writing skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master's or higher) in relevant fields such as sociology, anthropology, public/social policy, public health, or education is required for this position. A PhD in one of these fields is desirable but not mandatory.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in qualitative research and evaluation, with demonstrated experience in conducting research in low- and middle-income contexts, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa. Strong fieldwork experience and qualitative data collection skills are crucial for this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Portuguese is mandatory for this position. Candidates should be able to speak and write proficiently in both languages to effectively communicate and conduct research in the local context. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.

Additional Notes:
The position is a consultancy role with a focus on qualitative research. The consultant will be required to undertake in-country missions for various phases of the project, totaling approximately 18 working days.
