Job Overview: The primary care medical practitioner will be responsible for providing comprehensive primary medical care to ICAO staff and their dependents, including members of national delegations. This role involves diagnosing and treating acute and chronic health conditions, managing treatment plans, and coordinating care with other healthcare providers. The practitioner will also be involved in health promotion and disease prevention initiatives, ensuring that patients receive appropriate follow-up care. The position offers a unique opportunity to work within an international organization, providing services to a diverse clientele without the burden of overhead costs typically associated with private practice. The role is part-time, requiring three half-day clinics per week, with flexible hours based on demand.
Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will perform a variety of duties including: providing comprehensive primary medical care to patients with both acute and chronic health conditions; diagnosing and treating medical conditions; managing and following up on chronic conditions; developing treatment plans and monitoring patients' conditions; establishing medical employment limitations recommendations; providing referrals to other healthcare providers; coordinating care with other healthcare providers; recommending sick leave when warranted; implementing health promotion strategies; reviewing and administering immunizations as needed; and ensuring compliance with WHO and CDC guidelines. The practitioner will also be expected to maintain accurate medical records and participate in continuous professional development activities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree and certification in Family Medicine with the Collège des médecins du Québec. Additionally, candidates must have Basic Life Support for Health Providers or CPR/AED Level C Certification. A minimum of seven years of full-time equivalent experience in providing patient medical care in an ambulatory primary care, urgent care, or emergency medicine setting is essential. RAMQ affiliation is also required, along with operational DSQ key knowledge. Desirable qualifications include experience in pediatric care, familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR), and experience with CRDS and DSQ.
Educational Background: The educational requirements for this position include a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree and certification in Family Medicine from the Collège des médecins du Québec. Additional Notes: The duration of this assignment is six months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and organizational needs. The primary care practitioner will be compensated on a fee-for-service basis, receiving payment for each patient visit.
