Job Overview: The Youth Specialist position is a full-time role within the Fraser Coast Bail Support team, specifically located in Hervey Bay, Queensland. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide case management support to young people who are on bail. Duties and Responsibilities: The Youth Specialist will be responsible for the following duties:
Delivering quality service delivery to young people on bail, ensuring their needs are met effectively.
Engaging with young people and their families to build trust and facilitate open communication.
Managing relationships with stakeholders to enhance service delivery and support for the youth.
Monitoring and evaluating the outcomes of programs to assess their effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.
Providing case management support, including developing individualized plans that focus on the strengths and needs of each young person.
Addressing child protection concerns and ensuring a safe environment for all clients.
Managing and organizing workload efficiently to meet deadlines and service requirements.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate the following qualifications:
Proven skills and experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.
Experience in youth work or case management roles, particularly with at-risk youth.
A solid understanding of complex intergenerational trauma and its impact on young people.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with youth, families, and stakeholders.
Knowledge of child protection concerns and a commitment to responding to these issues safely and effectively.
Excellent time management and organizational skills to handle multiple cases and responsibilities.
Educational Background: A relevant qualification in social work, psychology, youth work, or a related field is preferred for this position. Candidates should have a strong theoretical understanding of youth development, trauma-informed care, and case management principles.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have substantial experience in youth work or case management, particularly with young people who are disengaged from the school system or involved in the justice system. Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities is highly desirable.
Languages: While the primary language for this position is English, any additional language skills that facilitate communication with diverse communities would be considered an asset.
Additional Notes: This is a maximum-term position that will last until the end of March 2026, with the possibility of part-time work (4 days per week) if preferred.
