Job Overview: The position of Online Volunteer Translator involves supporting the Regional Coordinator for the International Volunteer Year for Sustainable Development (IVY) 2026 by translating essential documents from English to Arabic and vice versa. This role is critical in facilitating communication and understanding among various stakeholders involved in the IVY 2026 initiative. The translator will be responsible for ensuring that all materials, including roadmaps, slide decks, and newsletters, are accurately translated to maintain the integrity and intent of the original documents. The work will contribute significantly to the successful implementation of the IVY 2026 in the Arab States, thereby enhancing the impact of volunteerism in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Translate documents related to the International Volunteer Year for Sustainable Development (IVY) 2026 from English to Arabic and Arabic to English.
Work on the translation of a roadmap for country-level implementation, which is approximately 2 pages long.
Translate introductory slide decks for various stakeholders, consisting of 38 slides.
Translate a newsletter that is 5 pages long.
Collaborate with the Regional Coordinator to ensure that translations meet the required standards and timelines.
Review and edit translations for accuracy and clarity.
Provide feedback on the translation process and suggest improvements where necessary.
Maintain confidentiality and integrity of the documents being translated.
Required Qualifications:
Proficiency in both English and Arabic, with strong translation skills between the two languages.
Excellent written communication skills in both languages.
Familiarity with the subject matter related to sustainable development and volunteerism is preferred.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality in translation work.
Educational Background: A degree in translation, linguistics, international relations, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant certifications in translation or language studies will be given priority. A background in social sciences or development studies may also be beneficial.
Experience: Previous experience in translation, particularly in the context of international development, volunteerism, or related fields, is highly desirable. Candidates should have a proven track record of translating documents accurately and efficiently, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
