The assignment is expected to span from August 20, 2025, to November 20, 2025, during which the expert will engage with various stakeholders, collect data, and analyze findings to produce a detailed report.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a thorough literature review on illegal dumping and behavior mapping methodologies.
Engage with local communities, government officials, and relevant stakeholders to gather qualitative and quantitative data.
Analyze data to identify patterns and behaviors associated with illegal dumping in the Municipality of Gostivar.
Prepare a comprehensive analytical report that includes findings, conclusions, and recommendations for addressing illegal dumping.
Present findings to stakeholders and facilitate discussions on potential interventions.
Ensure that all work is completed within the specified timeline and adheres to UNDP standards and guidelines.
Provide ongoing updates to the UNDP procurement team regarding progress and any challenges encountered during the assignment.
Required Qualifications:
Advanced degree in environmental science, social sciences, or a related field.
Proven experience in conducting analytical studies, particularly in waste management or environmental issues.
Strong understanding of behavior mapping techniques and methodologies.
Excellent analytical and report writing skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and facilitate discussions.
Familiarity with the local context of waste management in North Macedonia is an advantage.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess at least a Master's degree in a relevant field such as environmental science, social sciences, or public policy. A PhD in a related discipline would be considered an asset, particularly for those with extensive research experience in environmental issues or waste management.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in conducting research or analytical studies, particularly in the areas of environmental management, waste management, or social behavior analysis. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is highly desirable, as is familiarity with the local context of North Macedonia.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Macedonian or Albanian is considered an asset, as it would facilitate communication with local stakeholders and communities.
