Job Overview: The position involves providing technical assistance and facilitating business linkages within value chains. The consultant will be expected to engage with micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to enhance their operational efficiency and business management practices. The consultant will work on projects aimed at implementing improvements in management, human resources, sales, finance, and marketing for these enterprises. The assignment is expected to last for a period of 60 days, during which the consultant will need to demonstrate their ability to effectively support and guide businesses in achieving their goals.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for the following duties:
Conducting assessments of the current business practices of MSMEs to identify areas for improvement.
Developing tailored strategies and action plans to enhance business operations and management.
Providing training and capacity-building sessions for business owners and staff on best practices in management, finance, marketing, and human resources.
Facilitating connections between businesses and potential partners or markets to foster growth and collaboration.
Monitoring and evaluating the impact of implemented strategies on business performance.
Preparing detailed reports on findings, recommendations, and progress made during the consultancy period.
Engaging with stakeholders to ensure alignment with local economic development goals and initiatives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a professional degree in economic, administrative, social sciences, or engineering. Additionally, they should have a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in supporting the implementation of improvements in business management, human resources, sales, finance, or marketing for micro, small, or medium enterprises. Strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record of working with diverse stakeholders are essential. Familiarity with the local business environment and challenges faced by MSMEs in Colombia is highly desirable.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as economics, business administration, social sciences, or engineering is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in business management or related fields will be considered an asset, as they demonstrate a higher level of expertise and commitment to the field.
Experience: The position requires at least 2 years of relevant professional experience. This experience should include direct involvement in business improvement processes, management consulting, or similar roles that support the growth and development of micro, small, and medium enterprises. Experience working with international organizations or development agencies is a plus, as it indicates familiarity with the operational standards and expectations of such entities.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the position will involve direct communication with local businesses and stakeholders. Proficiency in English is considered an advantage, as it may be necessary for reporting and communication with international partners or stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The consultancy is for a fixed period of 60 days, and candidates should be prepared to work full-time during this assignment.
