Job Overview:
The Grants and Business Development Specialist will report directly to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director and work closely with the Operations Manager and Technical Unit Manager. This role encompasses three critical components of the program: Grants Unit Management, Business Development and Fundraising Strategy, and Relationship and Partnership Management. The specialist will supervise a team that includes a Grant Manager and two Grant Officers, ensuring effective coordination of donor reporting processes and compliance with contractual obligations. The position requires a proactive approach to monitoring donor strategies and funding opportunities, contributing to the development of a fundraising action plan, and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders. The specialist will also lead the development of high-quality proposals and concept notes, ensuring alignment with donor requirements and internal standards. This role is essential for enhancing HI's visibility and influence in the sector, as well as for fostering strategic collaborations with various partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Grants Unit Management: Supervise the grant team, ensuring effective coordination of donor reporting processes, monitoring reporting calendars, and validating donor reports for quality and compliance. Serve as a point of escalation for challenges faced by the Grants Manager and promote continuous improvement in reporting cycles. Support donor audit requests and project reviews.
  • Business Development Management: Monitor donor strategies and funding opportunities, contribute to the fundraising action plan, and maintain relationships with donors. Lead the development of proposals and concept notes, ensuring timely submission and quality control. Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration and manage partnerships for proposal alignment.
  • Relationship and Partnership Management: Strengthen HI's visibility by building strategic relationships with donors and key decision-makers. Represent HI in coordination platforms and enhance visibility on funding prospects. Conduct stakeholder mapping and contribute to localized approaches for engagement.
  • Management and Capacity Building: Organize training for field staff and partners on program development and reporting. Regularly visit field offices to maintain an understanding of program activities and ensure compliance with donor guidelines. Oversee team tasks and review outputs for accuracy and quality.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least 5 years of experience working with institutional donor audiences or in similar roles related to business development, funding management, or partnerships management. A strong background in humanitarian and/or development programs is essential, along with familiarity with donor regulations and compliance matters. Excellent written and spoken English skills are required, along with a keen attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.

Educational Background:

The salary starts at €2757 gross per month, with additional per diem and hardship allowances. Paid leave is provided at a rate of 25 days per year, with a rest and recuperation (R&R) period of 5 days every 8 weeks. The position is open for single individuals, and shared accommodation is provided.
