Job Overview:
The Driver position at WFP is crucial for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of authorized personnel and commodities. The role requires a commitment to following UN safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security regulations while providing transportation services. The Driver will be responsible for maintaining the vehicle in good condition, keeping accurate logs, and assisting with administrative tasks when necessary. This position is based in Gaza and is specifically for Palestinian nationals residing in the area. The Driver will report to the Management Services Assistant and will play a key role in supporting WFP's mission to deliver humanitarian assistance effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver's primary responsibilities include providing transportation for authorized personnel, ensuring the safety and efficiency of the service. This involves meeting personnel at airports, assisting with customs formalities, maintaining vehicle log books, and reporting on the mechanical status of the vehicle. The Driver must ensure that the vehicle is clean, well-maintained, and equipped with necessary travel authorizations. In addition to driving duties, the Driver may perform basic office tasks such as filing, photocopying, and delivering items. The Driver is also expected to follow established rules for field deliveries and report any issues to the supervisor promptly. The role requires a proactive approach to vehicle maintenance and a commitment to safety standards.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid driving license for vehicles over 12 tons, with a preference for those holding a Bus Driver or Public Transportation license. A strong understanding of driving rules and regulations, as well as knowledge of local roads and security issues, is essential. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a client-oriented approach, high responsibility, courtesy, and tact in all interactions. Basic skills in emergency assistance and knowledge of first aid methods are also beneficial. Additionally, candidates should be able to communicate effectively in both English and Arabic, both orally and in writing.

Educational Background:
A completion of secondary school education is required for this position. Formal driver training and certification to operate the assigned vehicle according to local regulations are mandatory. Candidates should also have a good understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety standards.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of work experience as a Driver, preferably within an international organization, embassy, or UN system. A demonstrated safe driving record is essential, along with experience in driving various types of vehicles, including vans and trucks. Experience in defensive driving is desirable, as is familiarity with the operational protocols of international organizations.

Languages:
Proficiency in both English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively in both languages, both orally and in writing, to facilitate interactions with personnel and assist with translation when necessary.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered under a Special Service Agreement (SSA) for a duration of three months, with the possibility of renewal based on WFP's needs, staff performance, and availability of funds. The contract is not subject to national legislation, and individuals engaged under SSA will serve as independent contractors. The monthly remuneration will be based on the SSA Salary Scale, and health coverage will be provided under CIGNA with co-cost sharing. Employees are entitled to one day of leave per month if the contract duration exceeds six months. Sick leave is not applicable, and taxes will apply to the remuneration under SSA. Medical clearance is required, and only Palestinian nationals or those with valid work permits in Palestine are eligible to apply.
