The organization's vision is to foster 'Creation of New Hope' that enhances wealth creation through empowerment, which is seen as a crucial element for the development and humanitarian programs of TechCeFaCos. The NGO focuses on promoting developmental policies and strategic initiatives related to arts and computer technologies, aiming for greater socio-economic and educational development in Cameroon. Their areas of focus include ICT4D, community development, volunteer and internship opportunities, capacity building, education and vocational training, sustainable micro-enterprise, collaboration and social networking, and initiatives for orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs).

Job Overview:
The position of Online Volunteer at the Refugee Empowerment Centre - RECE Gembu involves significant responsibilities aimed at enhancing the center's capacity to serve refugees and host communities in Gembu, Nigeria. The center is recognized as a critical hub for refugee empowerment and community development, and it requires upgrades to its infrastructure and programs to better meet the needs of its beneficiaries. As an Online Volunteer, you will play a pivotal role in developing a proposal that outlines the necessary upgrades and improvements for the center. This will involve researching potential donors, including foundations, corporations, and government agencies, to secure funding for the proposed enhancements. You will also collaborate closely with the TechCeFaCos team to refine the proposal and strategize on donor outreach, ensuring that the proposal effectively communicates the needs and goals of the Refugee Empowerment Centre.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Online Volunteer include:
  • Conducting thorough research on potential donors, which may include foundations, corporations, and government agencies that align with the mission of the Refugee Empowerment Centre.
  • Developing a comprehensive proposal that clearly outlines the needs and goals of the Refugee Empowerment Centre - RECE Gembu, ensuring that it addresses the specific challenges faced by refugees and host communities.
  • Collaborating with the TechCeFaCos team to refine the proposal, incorporating feedback and insights to enhance its effectiveness.
  • Assisting in the formulation of a donor outreach strategy that identifies the best approaches to engage potential funders and secure their support.
  • Participating in virtual meetings and discussions with the TechCeFaCos team to ensure alignment on project goals and strategies.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Online Volunteer position should possess the following qualifications:
  • Strong research skills, with the ability to identify and analyze potential funding sources.
  • Excellent written communication skills, particularly in proposal writing and documentation.
  • Familiarity with the non-profit sector and an understanding of the challenges faced by refugees and host communities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual environment.
  • A proactive attitude and a commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of underprivileged individuals and communities.

Educational Background:
Candidates should ideally have a background in fields such as social sciences, international development, public policy, or a related area. A degree or coursework in these fields will be advantageous, as it will provide the necessary context for understanding the needs of refugees and the operational dynamics of non-profit organizations.

Experience:
While prior experience in proposal writing or fundraising is beneficial, it is not strictly required. However, candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt, as well as a passion for community development and humanitarian work. Experience in volunteer roles or internships within non-profit organizations will be considered a plus.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, as all communications and documentation will be conducted in this language. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those spoken by the refugee populations in Gembu, would be considered an asset but is not required.

This position is a volunteer role and does not offer financial compensation. The duration of the volunteer engagement is flexible, depending on the needs of the Refugee Empowerment Centre and the availability of the volunteer. The role is remote, allowing individuals from various locations to contribute to the mission of TechCeFaCos and the Refugee Empowerment Centre.
