The intern will engage in various activities related to social media and website content, media engagement, and knowledge management. The role is structured to enhance the intern's skills and capacity in alignment with UNFPA's mandate. A work plan will be established to outline the intern's achievements and learning opportunities throughout the internship. The intern will have the chance to contribute to the organization's mission by supporting content development, media engagement, event organization, and knowledge management, thereby gaining valuable insights into the workings of a UN agency and the field of development.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support the communications efforts of UNFPA. These include:
Supporting content development for social media and the website, which involves transcribing interviews, translating content and subtitles, writing content, and potentially engaging in graphic design or video production.
Assisting with media engagement by drafting press releases, creating talking points, and maintaining an updated media contact list.
Helping organize events by preparing promotional materials, acting as an event runner, and documenting events through photography and videography for social media and web use.
Contributing to knowledge management by preparing presentations for internal review committees and updating relevant databases. This comprehensive set of responsibilities is aimed at providing the intern with a well-rounded experience in communications within a humanitarian context.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must meet several qualifications to be considered for the internship. These include:
Enrollment in a first university degree program (such as a bachelor’s degree) with at least three completed academic years, or recent graduation from such a program.
Demonstrated skills in communications, including proficiency in writing and editing texts in both Indonesian and English, social media management, content development, photography, and video production.
A strong interest in development issues, with knowledge of sexual and reproductive health and gender equality being advantageous.
Proficiency in at least one of the UN's working languages (English or French) and fluency in the official language of the UNFPA office.
Ability to adapt to new environments and establish good working relationships with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes a university degree in communications, journalism, international relations, or other relevant fields. Candidates must either be currently enrolled in a degree program or have recently graduated, with the stipulation that they must start the internship within one year of graduation if selected.
