Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support the objectives of the Environment section. Key duties include monitoring public information on worldwide clean energy sources, including processes, new developments, market studies, financing, user contracts, agreements, and pilot projects. The intern will contribute to the analysis of information provided by States regarding their action plans on renewable energy in aviation and assess their impact on global aspirational goals. Additionally, the intern will assist in quantifying the environmental benefits and economic impacts of renewable energy projects, identify opportunities for capacity building and partnerships, and help develop outreach materials such as articles, publications, and press briefings related to ICAO's clean energy initiatives. Other related duties may also be assigned as necessary.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed or be enrolled in a graduate degree program (second-level university degree or higher) in a relevant field such as aviation, environment, aeronautical/aerospace engineering, or computer science. For applicants from educational systems where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages, a minimum of four years of full-time university studies towards a degree is required. The position requires strong analytical skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and a keen interest in environmental issues related to aviation.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes a graduate degree or enrollment in a graduate program in fields related to aviation, environmental science, aeronautical/aerospace engineering, or computer science. Flexible arrangements may be available to accommodate part-time schedules for eligible students, in accordance with current off-campus work regulations. Interns are not permitted to engage in any other form of employment within ICAO during their internship and cannot apply for or be appointed to any post in the Secretariat or be contracted for any other remunerated employment with ICAO for six months following the end of their internship.
