Job Overview: The Online Volunteer position is part of the SDG Integration Team within UNDP’s Global Policy Network (GPN). This team focuses on providing support to country offices for the national implementation and monitoring of integrated policy solutions. Volunteers will engage in annotating policy documents for artificial intelligence (AI) applications, which is crucial for developing a high-quality human-labeled dataset that will enhance UNDP's document-processing capabilities. The role emphasizes the importance of evidence-driven data and analytics in achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs). Volunteers will gain practical experience in data annotation, which is a foundational process in AI development, and will have the opportunity to connect with UNDP's data team, gaining insights into the role of data in global development initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Attend an online induction session during the first week of the assignment to understand the objectives and guidelines.
Visually annotate policy documents using a web-based annotation tool, adhering to the provided guidelines.
Perform quality checks on annotations to ensure they meet the required standards.
Meet the minimum contribution threshold of annotations throughout the assignment to ensure successful completion.
Collaborate with data team members and participate in discussions to enhance the quality of the annotations.
Complete a brief online assessment to verify computer literacy and annotation skills prior to the assignment.
Provide feedback on the annotation process and suggest improvements where applicable.
Required Qualifications:
Basic computer literacy and familiarity with web-based tools.
Ability to follow detailed instructions and guidelines for annotation.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in work.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
Previous experience in data annotation or related fields is a plus but not mandatory.
Educational Background: While there are no specific educational requirements for this volunteer position, a background in data science, computer science, social sciences, or related fields may be beneficial. Candidates should demonstrate an understanding of data annotation processes and their relevance to AI development.
