Job Overview:
The National Project Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the System Strengthening Partnership (SSP) programme, which has been in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MoE) since 201
  • This position involves providing technical and project management support for the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of all programme activities. The SSP programme aims to enhance evidence-based policymaking and coordination within the MoE, focusing on strategic planning, data management, and crisis-sensitive education. The officer will be responsible for ensuring that the objectives of the SSP programme are met, particularly in the areas of data collection, analysis, and the integration of gender equality in education. The role requires close collaboration with various stakeholders, including national authorities, educational partners, and international organizations, to ensure the successful execution of the programme's goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The National Project Officer will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: supporting the programmatic implementation and coordination of the SSP programme; monitoring and reporting on project activities in accordance with UNESCO guidelines; providing technical advice to the MoE on evidence-based planning and data management; liaising with implementing partners and experts to ensure quality assurance of project deliverables; organizing internal and external coordination meetings; supporting communication and visibility activities; and performing other tasks as assigned by the Head of the Education Unit and Programme Manager. The officer will also be involved in the development of the new Education Strategic Plan for 2026-2030, which will outline the priorities for Jordan's education sector moving forward.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent coordination and communication abilities, and a sound understanding of results-based management principles. The role requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and the capacity to thrive under pressure in a multicultural environment. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a proactive approach to their work and possess the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (equivalent to a Master's) in education, social sciences, interdisciplinary studies, administration, or a related field is required for this position. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of work experience in project management and/or project implementation in a related area is required. Previous experience in the field of education, particularly in educational planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting, is highly desirable. Familiarity with administrative, financial, and procurement systems within the UN system or international organizations is considered an asset, as is experience working closely with national authorities or Ministry of Education staff.

Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
The position is a project appointment with a duration of 1 year, with the possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and satisfactory performance. The role is open to both internal and external candidates, but only nationals of Jordan may apply. The approximate annual starting salary for this position is 40,488 JOD, and benefits may include 30 days of annual leave, family allowance, medical insurance, and a pension plan.
