Job Overview:
The Water System Security and Operations Officer is tasked with ensuring the comprehensive security and operational integrity of the water system compound, including pump houses and generator houses. This position requires a proactive approach to maintaining safety and operational standards, ensuring that all equipment is functional and that the site is clean and secure. The officer will be responsible for controlling facility access, monitoring water supply levels, and conducting water treatment operations. The role demands a commitment to safety protocols and the ability to respond to emergencies effectively, ensuring that the water supply remains reliable for the camp's needs. The officer will work closely with technical staff and must be available 24/7 to address any urgent operational issues that may arise.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Water System Security and Operations Officer include: maintaining security at the water system compound and associated facilities to prevent theft and vandalism; regulating entry to facilities based on prior authorization; ensuring safety equipment is accessible and functional; maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the site; safely operating pumps, generators, and water treatment systems; performing daily operational checks and maintenance; assisting technical staff with repairs; monitoring fuel and oil levels; conducting water treatment operations including jar testing and chemical dosing; managing chemical and spare parts inventory; continuously monitoring water supply levels; meticulously recording operational data; reporting malfunctions or hazards promptly; and being available 24/7 for emergency communications. The officer will also perform any other reasonable tasks assigned by the Supervisor or Electromechanical Officer.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires primary education completion and at least two years of experience in a similar role. Candidates must demonstrate self-motivation, honesty, responsibility, and punctuality. The ability to work under pressure in potentially unstable security situations is essential, as is a commitment to serving refugee and host communities. Basic English language skills are required for effective communication.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed primary education as a minimum requirement. Additional training or certifications related to water systems, security operations, or emergency response would be advantageous but are not mandatory.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of two years of experience in a similar position, demonstrating a solid understanding of water system operations, security protocols, and maintenance procedures. Experience working in humanitarian settings or with vulnerable communities is highly valued, as is the ability to manage resources effectively and achieve results under pressure.

Languages:
Basic English is mandatory for this position, enabling effective communication with team members and stakeholders. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the local context would be considered an asset, enhancing the officer's ability to engage with the community and local authorities.
