Job Overview:
The position of Individual Consultant to deliver Business Training of Trainers (ToT) is aimed at providing essential business development training services to beneficiaries of the Climate Adaptation Water and Energy Project (CAWEP). The consultant will be responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive training program that equips participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively train others in business development practices. This role is crucial in enhancing the capacity of local communities to adapt to climate change impacts through improved business acumen and sustainable practices. The consultant will work closely with project stakeholders to ensure that the training aligns with the project's objectives and meets the specific needs of the beneficiaries. The assignment is expected to last for a period of 90 days, during which the consultant will engage in various training activities, assessments, and evaluations to measure the effectiveness of the training provided.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Individual Consultant include but are not limited to:
  • Conducting a needs assessment to identify the specific training requirements of CAWEP beneficiaries.
  • Developing a tailored training curriculum that addresses the identified needs and incorporates best practices in business development.
  • Facilitating training sessions, workshops, and seminars to deliver the training content effectively.
  • Providing ongoing support and mentorship to participants to reinforce learning and application of skills.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of the training program through feedback and assessments, and making necessary adjustments to improve future training sessions.
  • Collaborating with project stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.
  • Preparing and submitting comprehensive reports on training activities, participant progress, and overall program outcomes.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following qualifications:
  • Proven experience in delivering business training programs, particularly in a development context.
  • Strong understanding of climate adaptation and sustainable business practices.
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess training needs and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, education, or a related field is required. A master’s degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline would be an advantage. Additional certifications in training and development or business coaching would also be beneficial.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in business training, capacity building, or related fields. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of climate adaptation and sustainable development, is highly desirable. Proven track record of successfully implementing training programs and achieving measurable outcomes is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Zimbabwe would be an asset, as it would facilitate better communication with beneficiaries and enhance the training experience.

Additional Notes:
This position is classified as an Individual Consultant role, which typically involves a contract duration of 90 days. The consultant will be expected to work on a full-time basis during this period. The role may involve travel within Zimbabwe to various training locations as required. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, and benefits may include allowances for travel and accommodation as per UNDP policies.
