Job Overview:
The Data Analyst position is crucial for enhancing the quality and coherence of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) data across the United Nations system. The role involves supporting the strengthening of system-wide SEA reporting and analysis, ensuring that data is accurate, harmonized, and accessible. The Data Analyst will analyze trends in Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) and contribute to evidence-based strategies. This position is guided by innovative approaches that consider digital transformation and adaptive analytics, aiming to foster a culture of continuous innovation in SEA data systems. The Data Analyst will work closely with various UN offices and departments to generate high-quality, data-driven insights that inform decision-making and improve the UN's response to SEA.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Data Analyst will be responsible for a comprehensive review of SEA data flows and practices, identifying gaps and inconsistencies in data entry and reporting. The incumbent will lead efforts to map current data flows, assess reliable data sources, and collaborate with technical teams to enhance data quality and integrity. Key responsibilities include developing automated reporting mechanisms, designing and disseminating system-wide surveys on PSEA, and providing capacity building through training and user guidance materials. The Data Analyst will also analyze trends using statistical methods, create user-friendly dashboards, and produce tailored analytical reports for various stakeholders. The role requires ongoing technical support to data entry focal points and the development of harmonized data standards and protocols.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in fields such as computer science, data science, analytics, statistics, or public administration. A first-level university degree combined with relevant experience may be accepted. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in applied analytics, business intelligence, or related areas is required. Experience in using data for decision-making, familiarity with self-service analytics and data visualization applications (e.g., MS Power BI, Qlik, Tableau), and knowledge of database or programming languages (SQL, Python, R) are essential. Experience with version control tools like Git is desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in relevant fields such as data science, analytics, statistics, or information management. Candidates with a first-level university degree may be considered if they have qualifying experience. The emphasis is on having a strong foundation in data analysis and management, as well as familiarity with statistical methods and tools.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in applied analytics, business intelligence, or information management. Candidates should have a proven track record of using data to inform decisions and strategies. Experience with data visualization tools and self-service analytics is crucial, as is familiarity with programming languages and database management.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of French or Spanish is desirable, as well as proficiency in another UN official language. This linguistic capability is important for effective communication within the diverse UN environment and for engaging with various stakeholders.

The expected duration of this consultancy is for an initial period of four months, starting as soon as possible. The position is based at UN Headquarters in New York, USA.
