Job Overview:
The UNDP internship-programme" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Internship Programme aims to provide students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds with exposure to development issues and a first-hand experience of the day-to-day working environment at UNDP. This open call for a roster of qualified interns will serve as a pool of candidates who may be considered for internship assignments with UNDP Serbia throughout the 2025 period, depending on organizational needs and project requirements. Interns will be expected to support various projects and initiatives, contributing to research, analysis, and operational activities that align with UNDP's mission and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will work under the guidance of Project/Portfolio Managers and will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: providing support in research, analyses, and studies conducted within the project/portfolio; identifying national sources of data and translating data into English as necessary; comparing information on Serbia with regional, EU, and global data; providing operational support for project activities, including logistics and administrative support for online trainings, workshops, and conferences; assisting with communication activities; attending conferences and events, helping with their preparation, sending invitations, and organizing logistics; facilitating effective communications and information management support; providing executive support to senior management; and supporting external relations activities. Interns are expected to perform any other duties within the scope of the project/portfolio as required.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements at the time of application: be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme or higher); be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as a bachelor’s degree or equivalent); have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and must start the internship within one year of graduation; or be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program. Excellent knowledge of written and oral English is required, and knowledge of Serbian would be considered an asset.

Educational Background:
Candidates must provide clear information on their academic status as part of their application. If currently enrolled, they should specify the name of the university, field of study, current year of studies, and academic year (e.g., 3rd year of Bachelor studies, academic year 2025/2026). If graduated, they should indicate the exact graduation date and name of the university. Applications lacking this information will not be considered.

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandated, candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in development issues and a willingness to learn. The internship is designed for students and recent graduates, thus prior professional experience is not a strict requirement, but any relevant experience may enhance a candidate's application.

Languages:
The mandatory language requirement is excellent knowledge of written and oral English. Knowledge of Serbian is considered an asset, which may enhance communication and integration within the local context of the internship.

This internship is part of an open call for expressions of interest to join the UNDP Serbia Internship Roster. Inclusion in the roster does not guarantee selection or engagement. The open call will remain active for three months from the date of publication, until 15 October 202
  • Interns are not considered staff members and must adhere to UNDP regulations. The normal duration of the internship is between six weeks and six months, with part-time and full-time options available. Interns are responsible for securing their own medical insurance and must provide a medical certificate of good health prior to starting the internship. A stipend may be provided to cover basic daily expenses if the intern is not financially supported by any institution or program. There is no expectation of employment with UNDP following the internship.
