Job Overview:
The Finance Department (FIN) of the IMF is seeking a qualified Finance Analyst to join its Administrative Expenditures and Control Division (AX). This division is responsible for overseeing financial control and management of all payments and receipts under the Administrative and Capital Budgets, as well as payments related to externally provided capacity development funding agreements. The Finance Analyst will be primarily assigned to the Administrative Payments (AP) section, which includes the Travel/Accounts Payable Unit, External Accounts Unit, and Ledger and Cash Management Unit. The successful candidate will be expected to manage a portfolio of duties that may involve auditing expense reports, processing invoices, monitoring cash transfers, and ensuring compliance with the Fund’s administrative policies. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure while multitasking.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Finance Analyst will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: auditing expense reports for mission and benefit travel, resolving issues, and responding to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders regarding policy administration. The analyst will process invoices for payment, update vendor and supplier information, and manage automated interface entries. They will monitor cash transfers and miscellaneous transactions to ensure reconciliation, execute payments, and verify vendor banking information. Additionally, the analyst will process expenses from field offices, ensuring adherence to administrative policies and best practices, reconcile cash account balances, and record accounting transactions in PeopleSoft sub-ledger modules. Troubleshooting system issues and participating in ad hoc projects will also be part of the responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree or equivalent in accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field. A strong understanding of general accounting rules and practical experience in administrative payments is essential. Proficiency in Excel and a proven ability to solve problems, troubleshoot systems, and innovate are required. Excellent communication and relationship management skills are crucial, along with learning agility, adaptability, attention to detail, and analytical skills. The ability to provide customer service and work effectively under pressure while multitasking is also necessary.

Educational Background:
A university degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field is required. Equivalent qualifications may also be considered, provided they demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills relevant to the position.

Experience:
Candidates should have practical experience in accounting, particularly in the context of administrative payments. Experience with PeopleSoft Financials, ServiceNow, and knowledge of accounts payable, travel payments, and field office operations is preferred. The role requires a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently while maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, as the role requires strong verbal and written communication skills. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not explicitly required for this position.

This is a one-year contractual appointment with the possibility of renewal for up to four years based on performance, budget availability, and business needs. Only candidates currently residing in the Washington DC metro area will be considered for this position.
