Job Overview:
The Nuclear Security Officer (INSServ) plays a crucial role in the Department of Nuclear Safety and Security, specifically within the Division of Nuclear Security. This position is responsible for the preparation and execution of the International Nuclear Security Advisory Service (INSServ) activities requested by Member States. The officer will lead project planning, design, and delivery of INSServ-related activities, ensuring that they align with the Nuclear Security Plan. The role requires a deep understanding of nuclear security systems and measures, particularly in the context of materials outside of regulatory control. The officer will also contribute to the development of nuclear security guidance and assist Member States in enhancing their nuclear security frameworks through training and capacity building initiatives. This position demands a high level of expertise in nuclear security, project management, and international collaboration.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Nuclear Security Officer will coordinate and conduct INSServ missions and advisory reviews related to nuclear security. Responsibilities include developing work plans to support Member States in improving their nuclear security regimes, contributing to capacity-building efforts through training and workshops, and maintaining databases related to INSServ good practices and expert pools. The officer will lead the development of guidance documents within the IAEA Nuclear Security Series and ensure the successful implementation of nuclear security activities as outlined in Integrated Nuclear Security Support Plans (INSSP). Additionally, the officer will represent the IAEA at national and international meetings, fostering partnerships with relevant organizations and committees.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's Degree in Nuclear Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field. Alternatively, a Bachelor's Degree in the aforementioned fields, combined with two additional years of relevant experience, may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree. A minimum of seven years of professional experience at a managerial or operational level in nuclear security detection and response measures is required. Candidates should also have a recognized training qualification or equivalent experience in designing and delivering training related to nuclear security.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (Master's) in a relevant field such as Nuclear Engineering, Chemistry, or Physics. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in these fields may be considered if they have additional relevant experience. The emphasis is on having a strong foundation in nuclear science and engineering principles, as well as an understanding of nuclear security frameworks and challenges.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience, particularly at a managerial or operational level in the field of nuclear security. Candidates should have a proven track record in nuclear security detection and response measures, as well as experience in project management and international collaboration. Familiarity with the IAEA's Nuclear Security Plan and its implementation challenges is highly desirable.

Languages:
Excellent oral and written command of English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages, including Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's application.
