Job Overview: The position of Consultor/a Nacional en Comunicación Digital at UNICEF Cuba is designed to support the planning, production, publication, and monitoring of educational, informative, and creative content tailored for diverse audiences across digital platforms. The consultant will play a crucial role in enhancing UNICEF's visibility and amplifying the voices of children, families, and communities, particularly in emergency situations. This role is integral to the implementation of UNICEF's Digital Communication Strategy in Cuba, focusing on promoting the rights of children and adolescents, especially in light of ongoing regulatory updates in the country. The consultant will also contribute to the development of communication plans for significant events and initiatives, such as the World Breastfeeding Week and the 35th anniversary of Cuba's ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Content Creation and Management: Developing and editing original content for UNICEF Cuba's digital platforms, including life stories, press releases, and photo reports. Creating multimedia dossiers, digital newsletters, and thematic content packages. Updating content on UNICEF Cuba's website using CMS Drupal.
Social Media and Website Management: Designing and implementing content plans for digital platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, Threads, WhatsApp, and Telegram, in alignment with UNICEF Cuba's Digital Communication Strategy. Adapting content to fit the format, tone, and institutional narrative of each platform. Updating social media and managing user interactions. Monitoring the performance of posts and proposing creative strategies to enhance engagement with influential content managers.
Multimedia Documentation: Documenting institutional events and relevant processes for UNICEF Cuba through audiovisual means. Creating photo and video packages that meet UNICEF's standards. Managing informed consent from individuals photographed or filmed. Editorial work for the creation and dissemination of a digital newsletter.
Deliverables: The consultant will be expected to deliver a comprehensive content plan for social media related to nutrition, emergency communication strategies, and visibility of UNICEF's work in Cuba, among other tasks, with specific deadlines extending into 2026.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this position, candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Communication, Journalism, Social Sciences, or related fields. A minimum of three years of professional experience in digital communication, content production, digital storytelling, and social media management is required. Previous editorial experience related to children and adolescents is considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate strong creative writing skills, digital narrative capabilities, and audience management expertise. Knowledge of multimedia tools, editing, and CMS usage is essential. Consultants are responsible for their tax liabilities and ensuring that their visa and health insurance are valid for the duration of the contract.
