Job Overview: The consultant will play a crucial role in assessing the impact of the 'Vijana KIlimo Biashara (VKB)' project, which aims to empower smallholder farmers, particularly youth, in Tanzania. The consultant will conduct an outcome monitoring survey to evaluate the 'Youth In Work' indicator, which measures the benefits that youth have gained from the project. This position requires collaboration with WFP teams and local partners to ensure effective data collection and analysis. The consultant will be responsible for revising survey tools, overseeing data collection, analyzing results, and preparing comprehensive reports to present findings to stakeholders, including the global project coordination-team" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">coordination team and the donor, Mastercard Foundation. This role is essential in informing future project implementations and ensuring that the objectives of the CSP are met.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a desk review of the VKB programme and engage with programme officers and partners to gain contextual understanding.
Revise the Youth In Work (YIW) survey tools in collaboration with the WFP Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team.
Coordinate with field offices and partners to arrange logistics for YIW data collection.
Monitor daily data collection by enumerator teams and provide guidance on necessary adjustments.
Analyze collected data and present preliminary findings to the WFP team.
Prepare a detailed survey report summarizing the findings.
Develop a presentation package for the survey results and participate in presentations to the global team and donor.
Submit the final survey data and report to WFP for future reference.
Advise on data management strategies for the smallholder farmer support project and create a database for compiling implementation data from various projects. 1
Perform any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess a PhD or Master's degree in Agricultural Economics or a related field. They must have a strong background in conducting agriculture and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security assessments, with at least five years of relevant experience. The candidate should have a proven track record of writing reports or publications in agriculture or food security and should ideally have experience working with WFP or other UN agencies on similar projects. Strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to work independently are essential for this role.
Educational Background: Candidates must hold a PhD or Master's degree in Agricultural Economics or a closely related discipline. Experience: A minimum of five years of solid and relevant work experience is required, particularly in conducting assessments related to agriculture and food security. Additional Notes: This position is a consultancy role with a specific focus on the VKB project in Tanzania.
