Job Overview: The UN Volunteer - Motion Graphics Developer position is designed to support the UNDP Malawi's initiative to enhance the onboarding experience for newly recruited personnel. The role involves creating engaging motion graphics that will be used in introductory videos for both international and national UN Volunteers. These videos will cover essential topics such as the Malawian context, performance management, living conditions, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security briefings, housing options, and the processes involved in obtaining visas and work permits. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Field Unit, transforming complex information into visually appealing graphics that facilitate a smooth onboarding process for new volunteers. This position not only requires creativity and technical skills in motion graphics but also a deep understanding of the volunteer experience and the challenges faced by new recruits in Malawi.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop motion graphics for introductory videos aimed at both international and national UN Volunteers.
Collaborate with the Field Unit to gather relevant information and content for the videos.
Create visually appealing and engaging graphics that effectively communicate essential onboarding information.
Ensure that all graphics align with UNV branding and messaging guidelines.
Participate in brainstorming sessions to generate ideas for video content and presentation styles.
Revise and edit graphics based on feedback from supervisors and stakeholders.
Assist in the production of video content, including editing and post-production tasks as needed.
Maintain organized files and documentation of all graphics and video content created.
Stay updated on best practices in motion graphics and video production to continuously improve the quality of work.
Required Qualifications:
Proficiency in motion graphics software such as Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, or similar tools.
Strong graphic design skills with a portfolio showcasing previous motion graphics work.
Ability to translate complex information into clear and engaging visual content.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Familiarity with UNV's mission and values is an advantage.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and creativity in developing visual solutions.
Educational Background: A degree in graphic design, multimedia arts, visual communication, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant certifications in motion graphics or video production will also be considered. A strong portfolio demonstrating motion graphics skills is essential, regardless of formal educational background.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 1-2 years of experience in motion graphics development or a related field. Experience working with international organizations or in a volunteer capacity is a plus. Familiarity with the UN system and understanding of volunteerism will be beneficial for this role.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communications and materials will be in English. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Malawi is an advantage but not required. Candidates who can communicate in multiple languages will be viewed favorably.
Additional Notes: This is a volunteer position with a flexible duration, depending on the project needs. The role is full-time and may require remote work or in-person collaboration, depending on the situation in Malawi.
