Job Overview: The position involves providing on-site consulting and working on strategic projects at the partner's office, specifically the Gates Foundation China Country Office. The candidate will collaborate with the partner's Health, Innovation, and Partnership (HIP) team to enhance access to high-quality health products in low- and middle-income countries. The role requires analytical support for existing and future projects, focusing on investment portfolio strategy formulation and portfolio impact assessment. The candidate will engage in market research, manage relevant programs, and support strategy review and partnership management, contributing to discussions on key global health topics.
Duties and Responsibilities: The candidate's main responsibilities include conducting thematic research, managing data collection and analysis, coordinating with stakeholders, facilitating on-site visits, and overseeing grant timelines and deliverables. They will develop databases and frameworks to identify and prioritize relevant manufacturers and products, prepare presentations and reports to inform decision-making, and build relationships across the healthcare industry. Project management is crucial to maximize performance and delivery effectiveness, and the candidate will assist in designing and implementing project activities as required by the partnership framework. Establishing an expert network for technical assistance and organizing meetings and workshops are also part of the role.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should have at least one year of experience in a tier-1 strategic consulting firm or equivalent, or three or more years in boutique healthcare consulting firms. They must possess strong storytelling, modeling, portfolio analysis, and communication skills. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both English and Chinese are required, particularly for engaging with C-suite level audiences. The ability to think strategically and develop frameworks to support high-level conversations is essential, along with the capability to manage workstreams independently in a dynamic and multicultural environment.
Educational Background: A Master's or Bachelor's degree in public health, medicine, biomedical engineering, business, or a related field is required for this position. The educational background should provide a solid foundation for understanding health systems and the healthcare industry.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least one year of experience in a top-tier strategic consulting firm or equivalent, or three or more years in boutique healthcare consulting firms. Experience in strategic consulting or healthcare-related projects is highly preferred, as well as a demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and engage with high-level stakeholders.
Languages: Fluency in both English and Chinese is mandatory, with exceptional verbal and written communication skills necessary for effective engagement with C-suite level audiences. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
Additional Notes: The position may require at least 20% travel. Exceptionally qualified candidates may be permitted to work remotely from Chinese cities other than Beijing. The selection process includes a resume review, a written short case study exercise, and 2-3 rounds of interviews with both CHAI and the partner.
