Job Overview:
The Transport Research Analyst position at WRI-China Sustainable Transition Center is primarily focused on conducting research that supports the decarbonization of the transportation sector, particularly in the market for zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles. The role is designed for individuals who are passionate about researching policy recommendations and facilitating changes within the transportation sector. The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team at WRI, tasked with translating innovative ideas into actionable strategies and enhancing the capacity to tackle transportation challenges both in China and globally. This position requires a strong commitment to research and the ability to engage with various stakeholders to promote sustainable transport solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Transport Research Analyst will be responsible for conducting independent quantitative research aimed at mitigating the environmental impacts of the road transport sector, with a specific emphasis on zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles. Key responsibilities include reviewing and summarizing technical and scientific literature, analyzing policies, and developing quantitative methods to draw practical recommendations. The analyst will also be tasked with writing or co-writing reports, working papers, and other technical documents to effectively communicate research findings. Additionally, the role involves preparing presentations for both internal and external workshops, supporting project management through conducting surveys and field visits, organizing project meetings, and taking meeting notes. The analyst will also assist in organizing external events, workshops, and conferences, as well as preparing news releases to disseminate research outcomes.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's or PhD degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering/science/policy, transportation engineering/planning, energy systems, public policies, or related fields. A strong technical understanding of the transport sector, particularly regarding new energy vehicles, is highly desirable. Furthermore, applicants should have at least 3 years of relevant full-time work experience in the transportation or environmental field. Excellent analytical and quantitative research skills are essential, along with proficiency in data analysis and preferably some publication experience. Strong oral and written communication skills in Chinese, coupled with good interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic, are also required. The ability to work independently with limited supervision, be highly organized, and strategically solve problems is crucial for success in this role.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's or PhD degree in relevant fields such as civil engineering, environmental engineering/science/policy, transportation engineering/planning, energy systems, or public policies. This advanced education is essential to ensure that the candidate has a strong technical foundation and understanding of the complexities involved in the transportation sector, particularly in relation to sustainability and decarbonization efforts.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of 3 years of highly relevant and full-time work experience in the transportation or environmental field. This experience should ideally include a focus on research and policy analysis related to the transportation sector, demonstrating the candidate's ability to engage with complex issues and contribute effectively to the organization's goals.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken Mandarin and English is mandatory for this position. Excellent communication skills in both languages are essential for effectively conveying research findings and engaging with diverse stakeholders. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered on a two-year fixed labor contract, based on project needs. The role is full-time and may require flexibility to travel nationally and internationally as part of the research and project management responsibilities.
