The UNFPA aims to enhance its territorial presence by promoting multisectoral coordination and national participation, supporting governmental institutions in municipalities and districts. The UNFPA will implement initiatives related to six program products, fostering local coordination among stakeholders and promoting donor funding to improve living conditions for identified populations. The role involves overseeing the inter-agency project aimed at strengthening governmental capacities for the protection and reintegration of migrants and their families, focusing on a human rights-centered integrated approach. The Project Coordinator will identify and address the urgent needs of vulnerable Salvadoran migrants throughout the migration cycle, ensuring comprehensive support and protection services.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Coordinator will support the Project Coordinator in implementing and monitoring the project by: - Implementing specific project actions on the ground, ensuring compliance with established objectives and methodologies. - Monitoring the progress of activities and ensuring real-time data collection, analysis, and reporting to enhance planning, decision-making, and reporting processes. - Participating in regular meetings with the Gender and Youth Officer and Project Coordinator to report on progress, identify challenges, and propose adjustments. - Coordinating activities with local institutions and implementing partners, maintaining constant communication with partners, and supporting the execution of joint activities while ensuring adherence to project methodologies. - Facilitating capacity building for community leaders, municipal staff, and local actors to ensure the sustainability of project interventions. - Supervising and ensuring programmatic approaches in community awareness initiatives implemented by partners. - Providing assistance and follow-up to the Consular Network to strengthen capacities in specialized care for survivors of gender-based violence and sexual and reproductive health. - Ensuring technical coherence of the project, promoting information exchange and coordination among partners, components, and project actions, with an emphasis on gender approaches, gender-based violence, and sexual and reproductive health. - Supporting the implementation of the comprehensive health care program, focusing on sexual and reproductive health and the needs of gender-based violence victims with International Health Offices (OSI). - Designing a comprehensive health care program with the Consular Network, emphasizing sexual and reproductive health and the needs of gender-based violence victims. - Developing a support pathway and methodology for implementing a psychosocial care model for migrants and returnees in reintegration processes, including gender-based violence and sexual and reproductive health approaches to identify women and girls who have faced gender-based violence for referral to public services based on international standards. - Enhancing public institutions' capacity to provide differentiated humanitarian assistance to vulnerable migrants. - Strengthening municipal and community networks to prevent irregular migration and provide comprehensive care, including gender-based violence and sexual and reproductive health for returnees and their families, incorporating feedback mechanisms for accountability in prioritized municipalities. - Empowering women's civil society organizations and networks to provide timely, rights-based information to individuals at risk of migration.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a higher university degree in social fields (social work, psychology, health, education, etc.), preferably with training in Local Development, community project management, and humanitarian response. They should have at least three years of progressively responsible work experience in implementing development programs/projects, preparing technical reports, and involving multiple sectors (migration, health, education, social protection, justice) and inter-institutional coordination with local authorities, civil society, and the private sector. Proven experience in implementing projects funded by international donors is essential, along with knowledge in preparing financial and programmatic reports and accountability. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to conduct community information gathering and diagnostics, contributing to identifying needs and priorities in intervention territories. Experience in planning and organizing community activities, such as awareness campaigns and informational fairs, is also required. Proficiency in Google Suite (Gmail, shared calendars, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, etc.) and MS Office, particularly MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is necessary.
Educational Background: A higher university degree in social fields such as social work, psychology, health, education, or related areas is required. Additional training in Local Development, community project management, and humanitarian response is preferred.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in the implementation of development programs/projects, technical report writing, and inter-institutional coordination involving multiple sectors such as migration, health, education, social protection, and justice. Experience in managing projects funded by international donors is essential, along with the ability to conduct community diagnostics and identify needs in intervention areas.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, and proficiency in English is considered an advantage.
