Job Overview:
The internship program at the IAEA is designed to provide students and recent graduates with practical work experience in their field of study or interest. Interns will have the opportunity to engage with the IAEA's work and the broader United Nations framework, gaining insights into international nuclear safety and security. The internship typically lasts between three months to one year, allowing interns to contribute to the IAEA's programs while enhancing their professional skills. Interns will work within the Department of Nuclear Safety and Security, specifically in the Regulatory Activities Section, where they will support activities related to Small Modular Reactors (SMR) and the Nuclear Harmonization and Standardization Initiative (NHSI).

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at supporting the activities of the Regulatory Activities Section. Key responsibilities include maintaining the SMR RF public website on RegNet, which involves updating information and ensuring the website's functionality. Interns will also develop a program for improving the SMR RF restricted website, create and deploy new web pages and features, and perform routine audits to identify and rectify broken links, security vulnerabilities, and outdated content. Additionally, interns will troubleshoot website issues, provide technical support during meetings and workshops, and assist in collecting, organizing, and sorting SMR-related data for the NHSI's SMR Regulation and Cooperation Hub. Testing all modular functions of the Hub prior to launch will also be part of their duties.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Nuclear Engineering, or a related technology field. Experience in website development is essential, including graphic design skills and proficiency in using SharePoint and MS Teams. A basic understanding of programming languages and tools for website development, such as HTML, CSS, or JavaScript, is required, along with knowledge of responsive design principles. Excellent command of MS Office is mandatory, as well as strong time management, communication skills, and attention to detail. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment is crucial. Familiarity with the IAEA and its activities, as well as general knowledge of Small Modular Reactors and nuclear safety, is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be at least 20 years old and have completed a minimum of three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards a first degree. They may apply up to one year after completing their bachelor's, master's, or doctorate degree. It is important that candidates have not previously participated in the IAEA's internship program.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have relevant experience in website development, which may include internships, academic projects, or professional work. Familiarity with the IAEA's mission and activities, as well as knowledge of nuclear safety and Small Modular Reactors, is advantageous but not mandatory.

Languages:
A strong command of English, both written and spoken, is essential for this position. Fluency in any other official IAEA language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish, or Russian, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's application.
