Job Overview:
The position of IC for Climate Adaptation Methodology Expert involves a critical role in supporting the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Readiness Project in Indonesia. The consultant will be engaged for a period of 4 months, during which they will provide technical expertise aimed at enhancing climate resilience planning. This includes developing methodologies for assessing climate risk and vulnerability, which encompasses data collection, statistical analysis, and the creation of guidelines. The consultant will work closely with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and UNDP Indonesia to develop and deliver training modules, facilitate stakeholder consultations, and enhance the SIDIK system. The ultimate goal is to ensure robust, data-driven climate adaptation planning at the national level, which is essential for Indonesia's response to climate change.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for several key duties, including:
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of climate risk and vulnerability in Indonesia.
  • Developing and refining methodologies for climate risk assessment.
  • Collecting and analyzing relevant data to inform climate adaptation strategies.
  • Creating guidelines and training materials for stakeholders involved in climate resilience planning.
  • Facilitating consultations with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community representatives.
  • Supporting the enhancement of the SIDIK system to improve data management and accessibility for climate adaptation planning.
  • Delivering training sessions to build capacity among stakeholders in climate resilience methodologies.
  • Collaborating with UNDP and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry to ensure alignment with national policies and strategies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in climate science, environmental studies, or a related field. They should have proven experience in climate risk assessment and vulnerability analysis. Familiarity with statistical analysis tools and methodologies is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively engage with stakeholders and present findings. A track record of working with governmental and non-governmental organizations in climate adaptation projects will be highly regarded. The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently is also required.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a Master's degree in Environmental Science, Climate Change, or a related field is required. Candidates with a PhD in a relevant discipline will be given preference. Additional certifications in climate adaptation methodologies or project management will be considered an asset.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of professional experience in climate adaptation, risk assessment, or related fields. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of UNDP projects, will be advantageous. Proven experience in conducting training and capacity-building activities is also essential, as the role involves significant stakeholder engagement and knowledge transfer.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all reports and communications will be conducted in English. Proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and government officials. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the region may be considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
This position is classified as an individual contractor role, with a contract duration of 4 months. The consultant is expected to complete 60 working days within this timeframe. The position is full-time, and the consultant will be required to submit proposals directly through the UNDP supplier portal. Compensation details will be provided upon selection, and the consultant will be expected to adhere to UNDP's procurement guidelines throughout the assignment.
