Job Overview:
The Business Development Analyst plays a crucial role in the growth and improvement of UNDP's Information Technology Management/Smart Infrastructure Services (ITM/SIS) business. This position involves establishing and nurturing relationships with customers, suppliers, and partners, which is essential for successful revenue growth and resource mobilization. The analyst will support the management, marketing, and sales of various services and products developed by ITM/SIS, including Green Energy initiatives, Smart Building solutions, IoT applications, and digital collaboration tools. The role requires strategic planning and positioning of ITM/SIS within the UN system and the broader NGO and human development sectors, aiming to identify new business opportunities that will generate revenue and enhance profitability.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Business Development Analyst will undertake a variety of tasks under the supervision of the Business Development Specialist, including:
  • Project Coordination: Support the Business Development Group in coordinating with Country Offices (CO) for events such as inauguration ceremonies, workshops, and shipments. Collaborate with the communication team to enhance the branding and dissemination of Smart Facility solutions. Prepare visual materials for COs and draft Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and other project-specific agreements in alignment with the legal department.
  • Research and Analysis: Lead research initiatives on e-mobility and conduct market research on electric vehicle battery disposal and recycling. Contribute to the development of reports and guides for dissemination across UNDP.
  • Business Development and Partnerships: Develop and maintain partnerships with various stakeholders, including universities and other UN agencies. Create eLearning opportunities for practitioners in Green Energy and Smart Facilities. Support ongoing partnership activities, including due diligence and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) processes.
  • Community Engagement: Collaborate with other teams to develop ITM's service approach towards community engagement and ensure a steady pipeline of Smart Facilities projects. This may involve engaging with both external and internal stakeholders and preparing presentations and documentation.
  • Mentoring and Training: Provide support to interns within the Business Development Group, acting as a mentor and guiding them in their project work. The analyst may also perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Development Studies, International Business, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the aforementioned areas, combined with an additional two years of qualifying experience, will be considered in lieu of the advanced degree. Applicants with a Master’s degree are not required to have prior professional work experience, while those with a Bachelor’s degree must have at least two years of relevant professional experience in project management, finance, or procurement-related activities. Required skills include data analysis and reporting, stakeholder engagement, and proficiency in visualization tools such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Development Studies, International Business, or a related field. Candidates with a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in these areas may also qualify if they have two additional years of relevant experience. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of business development within the context of UNDP's mission and operations.

Experience:
The level of experience required for the Business Development Analyst position varies based on educational qualifications. Applicants with a Master’s degree (or equivalent) are not required to have professional work experience. However, those with a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) must have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in areas such as project management, finance, or procurement. Experience in managing projects, ensuring timely delivery, and meeting performance goals is highly valued, as is familiarity with the Smart Facilities and Green Energy sectors.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, proficiency in one or more other UN languages is considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and contribute to UNDP's global mission.
