Job Overview: The internship in the Sustainable Transport Section of the Transport Division is designed for individuals seeking to gain practical experience in the field of sustainable urban development and transport systems. Interns will work full-time, five days a week, under the guidance of experienced staff members. The Sustainable Transport Section focuses on promoting sustainable and inclusive urban development in Asia and the Pacific, emphasizing the importance of efficient transport and logistics networks, environmentally sustainable transport systems, and safe mobility. Interns will engage in various tasks that contribute to the division's objectives, including research, data analysis, and preparation of materials for meetings and workshops.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for a range of tasks that support the Sustainable Transport Section's initiatives. Key duties include conducting research on road safety, sustainable transport, and smart transport for ESCAP member countries. Interns will identify and collect relevant information from both primary and secondary sources, which will be essential for ongoing studies. They will also assist in preparing case studies and background materials for meetings and workshops focused on these topics. Additionally, interns will review, analyze, and compile collected data, preparing comprehensive reports that include findings, conclusions, and visual aids such as tables, graphs, and charts. They will create infographics and communication materials to advocate for the findings and may be required to prepare presentations summarizing their work and lessons learned. Coordination with Transport Division staff will be necessary to identify key issues, and interns may also assist with day-to-day operations and administrative tasks typical of UN organizations.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet specific educational requirements. Candidates should either be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent) or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).
