Job Posting Organization:
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is an international organization that seeks to promote the peaceful use of nuclear energy and to inhibit its use for any military purpose, including nuclear weapons. Established in 1957, the IAEA is headquartered in Vienna, Austria, and has a mission to accelerate and enlarge the contribution of atomic energy to peace, health, and prosperity throughout the world. The organization operates in over 170 countries and has a workforce of approximately 2,500 employees, including scientists, engineers, and administrative staff. The IAEA collaborates with various member states and international organizations to ensure the safe and secure use of nuclear technology.

Job Overview:
The internship program at the IAEA is designed to provide students and recent graduates with practical work experience that aligns with their academic studies or interests. Interns will have the opportunity to gain insights into the operations of the IAEA and the broader United Nations system. The internship typically lasts between three months and one year, allowing interns to immerse themselves in the IAEA's Technical Cooperation (TC) program. Interns will be involved in various aspects of the TC program, including project management, knowledge management, and partnership building, thereby contributing to the IAEA's mission while enhancing their own professional skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be expected to engage in a variety of tasks that support the IAEA's Technical Cooperation program. This includes gaining an understanding of project management processes, participating in project design and planning, and assisting in the implementation of selected TC activities. Interns will also be involved in monitoring and evaluating projects, as well as preparing achievement reports for specific projects. Additionally, they will gain hands-on experience in drafting success stories for the TC program and will receive training on platforms used for managing projects within the TC cycle, such as the Project Cycle Management Framework (PCMF) and the Agency Information Processing System (AIPS).

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in management, social sciences, science and technology, or international relations. They should have experience in compiling, processing, and reporting information using databases. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2010, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is essential as these are the standard tools used by the IAEA. Excellent oral and written command of English is mandatory, while a good command of spoken and written Spanish is considered an asset. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, and Russian, is also advantageous.

Educational Background:
Applicants must have completed at least three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a first degree. Candidates who have recently graduated (within one year) from a bachelor's, master's, or doctorate degree program are also eligible to apply. It is important that candidates have not previously participated in the IAEA's internship program.

Experience:
The internship is aimed at individuals who are in the process of completing their university education or who have recently graduated. Therefore, while specific professional experience is not required, candidates should demonstrate relevant academic knowledge and skills that align with the responsibilities of the internship. Experience in working with databases and Microsoft Office is essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively in English and potentially other languages.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. A good command of Spanish is considered an asset, and knowledge of other IAEA official languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, and Russian) is also beneficial for candidates.

Additional Notes:
The internship is for a duration of 12 months, providing a comprehensive opportunity for interns to engage with the IAEA's Technical Cooperation program. Candidates must be at least 20 years old and should attach two signed letters of recommendation to their application. The internship is a full-time position and is open to international applicants, allowing for a diverse range of candidates to apply.
