Job Overview: CIMMYT is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-oriented professional for the position of Learning Content and System Administrator, to work in the CIMMYT Academy. This role is crucial for managing and administering the day-to-day operations of the Learning Management System (LMS) at CIMMYT headquarters in Texcoco, State of Mexico, near Mexico City. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a seamless learner experience by managing user accounts, course enrollments, access permissions, and system configurations. The position also involves monitoring LMS performance, providing technical support to users, and coordinating system updates and data migrations. The Learning Content and System Administrator will work closely with instructional designers and subject matter experts to support the deployment and maintenance of digital learning activities, ensuring that learning content is consistently tagged and aligned with metadata standards. This role requires a proactive approach to generating reports on learner engagement and content usage, as well as conducting regular functionality testing for newly developed learning modules.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Learning Content and System Administrator will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including:
Managing and administering the day-to-day operations of the LMS, including user account setup, course enrollments, access permissions, and system configurations.
Monitoring LMS performance and providing technical support to users to ensure a seamless learner experience.
Coordinating system updates, data migrations, and integrations with third-party tools such as SSO and HRIS platforms.
Uploading, organizing, and maintaining digital learning assets, including videos, SCORM packages, PDFs, and quizzes across the LMS and other learning platforms.
Ensuring that learning content is consistently tagged, version-controlled, and aligned with metadata/taxonomy standards.
Collaborating with instructional designers, subject matter experts, and program leads to support the deployment and maintenance of digital learning activities.
Publishing and updating learning content in multiple formats, ensuring technical compatibility across devices.
Generating and distributing reports on learner engagement, completion rates, and content usage using built-in LMS analytics tools.
Providing data insights and dashboards to help measure training effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. 1
Conducting regular functionality testing for newly developed or revised learning modules and identifying bugs or usability issues. 1
Serving as a first-line support contact for technical issues related to content access, progress tracking, or system navigation.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in education, Instructional Technology, Information Systems, or a related field. Additionally, candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of experience administering Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Opigno, Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard, or similar platforms. Experience in managing digital learning content (SCORM, xAPI, HTML5, etc.) and supporting virtual or blended learning environments is essential. Strong oral and written English communication skills, along with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in teams, are also required. Candidates should demonstrate experience in working with content authoring tools such as Articulate Rise, H5P, and Adobe Captivate, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic knowledge of data reporting tools like Excel and Power BI.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as education, Instructional Technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline. This educational background is essential for understanding the principles of instructional design and technology, which are critical for the role of Learning Content and System Administrator.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in administering Learning Management Systems (LMS). This experience should include managing digital learning content and supporting virtual or blended learning environments, which are vital for the effective execution of the responsibilities associated with this position.
Languages: Strong oral and written English communication skills are mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, but English is the primary language required for effective communication within the organization and with stakeholders.
Additional Notes: CIMMYT offers an attractive remuneration package along with support for continuous professional development. In addition to the provisions of the Mexican Labor Law, the benefits package includes a year-end bonus equivalent to 40 days of salary, a vacation premium of 56%, life and medical insurance, supermarket coupons, a savings fund, and social benefits as per Mexican regulations (IMSS, SAR / Infonavit).
