Job Overview:
The Facilities Coordinator position at CIMMYT is a dynamic role that requires a self-motivated and service-oriented individual. The coordinator will be responsible for overseeing various facilities operations, including cleaning and pest control services, landscaping, general services operations, and the management of tools and equipment. This role is crucial for ensuring that the CIMMYT Center and its external residences are well-maintained and compliant with safety and ergonomic standards. The Facilities Coordinator will also be involved in developing procedure manuals, managing inventories, and coordinating procurement processes. The position is based at CIMMYT headquarters in El Batán, Texcoco, Mexico, which is conveniently located 45 minutes from Mexico City.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Facilities Coordinator will lead cleaning and pest control service projects, defining objectives and schedules based on identified needs. They will oversee landscaping services to ensure proper maintenance of outdoor areas. The coordinator will manage general services operations, including office setups and the disposal of obsolete furniture. They will supervise the supply and maintenance of furniture and accessories, ensuring compliance with ergonomic standards. Additionally, the coordinator will coordinate locksmith and blinds services, manage inventory of tools and equipment, and oversee the procurement process for facilities needs. They will also ensure proper expense classification and assist with administrative requirements for the team.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil) and have a minimum of four years of experience in a similar role. An advanced level of English is required, with a minimum proficiency level of B2 according to the CEFR. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong organizational skills, a sense of responsibility, and the ability to comply with safety regulations. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, along with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, are essential for this position.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil) is preferred for this position. This educational background provides the necessary technical knowledge and skills required to manage facilities operations effectively.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of four years of experience in a similar role, which indicates that candidates should have a solid understanding of facilities management and operations.
