Job Overview: The UNV Digital Communications Specialist will play a crucial role in enhancing UNFPA's visibility and engagement through digital storytelling and content creation. This position involves supporting the Communications Unit in managing day-to-day digital communications, including social mediacoordination, influencer engagement, and content creation. The specialist will contribute to UNFPA India's digital presence by executing the digital and influencer marketing strategy, managing social media rollouts, and tracking engagement metrics. The role requires creativity in producing high-quality multimedia content and ensuring effective communication with partners and audiences across various digital platforms.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the UNV Digital Communications Specialist include:
Digital and Social Media Management: - Daily management of UNFPA India’s social media channels (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube) by scheduling, posting, and monitoring content. - Coordination with internal teams and UNFPA State Offices to gather stories and updates for content planning. - Generating fresh ideas for engaging content to enhance audience retention. - Liaising with the Digital Agency for content development and approvals. - Supporting the communications team in campaign ideation and execution. - Tracking and reporting on key metrics using platform insights. - Monitoring trends and providing feedback to improve digital strategy. - Hands-on experience with video editing tools for creating engaging reels and shorts.
Content Creation and Storytelling: - Development of high-quality multimedia content tailored for different platforms. - Conducting phone shoots and editing field-based videos. - Documenting UNFPA India’s programs through stories and testimonials. - Coordinating with partners and influencers for joint campaigns. - Creating compelling visual concepts to communicate key messages effectively.
Website Support: - Assisting in updating the India Country Office website with relevant content. - Suggesting new ideas for disseminating stories and campaigns.
Liaison and Coordination: - Providing coordination support to the Digital Agency and Creative Vendors. - Working closely with the Communications Specialist to deliver the influencer strategy. - Networking with youth influencers to drive engagement for UNFPA campaigns. - Supporting logistics and social media amplification for key events and campaigns.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a strong understanding of digital communications and social media management. Candidates should possess skills in content creation, multimedia production, and digital marketing strategies. Familiarity with analytics tools and experience in managing social media platforms are essential. The ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders is crucial, along with a creative mindset for developing engaging content. Knowledge of current trends in digital communications and a passion for UNFPA's mission are highly valued.
Educational Background: Candidates should have a degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field. A strong academic background in digital media or social media management is preferred. Additional certifications in digital marketing or content creation tools would be advantageous.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have prior experience in digital communications, social media management, or content creation. Experience working with non-profit organizations or in the UN system is a plus. A demonstrated ability to produce high-quality multimedia content and manage social media campaigns effectively is essential. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to changing priorities.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within UNFPA. Knowledge of Hindi or other regional languages would be considered an asset, as it would enhance engagement with local audiences and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in New Delhi, India. The contract duration is subject to availability of funding and satisfactory performance, with no expectation of renewal. The UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The monthly Volunteer Living Allowance is INR 64,961.50, with additional benefits including health insurance, annual leave, sick leave, and other entitlements as per UNV policies. The role requires cultural sensitivity and adaptability to the local environment.
