Job Overview: The primary objective of this consultancy is to support Sudanese renal failure patients in Egypt by ensuring their access to quality healthcare services. This includes providing life-saving treatment for dialysis-dependent individuals and post-renal transplantation patients. The consultant will work closely with the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), WHO Representative Office in Egypt, the Sudanese embassy in Cairo, the Sudanese consulate in Aswan, and community leaders to implement this initiative. The project aims to alleviate the healthcare burden on patients and the national health system by covering treatment costs and ensuring equitable access to care. The consultant will also be responsible for integrating a monitoring and evaluation framework to track service delivery and make necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will perform several key outputs:
Conduct a needs assessment for Sudanese renal failure patients and facilitate their enrollment in the treatment program. This includes surveying the needs of patients, developing a database of dialysis-dependent and post-renal transplantation patients, engaging in community discussions to highlight health needs, and assisting in matching patients with treatment centers.
Ensure continuous access to quality healthcare services and patient satisfaction. This involves overseeing the implementation of dialysis services, conducting periodic patient satisfaction surveys, analyzing findings, and ensuring clinical key performance indicators are met. The consultant will also be responsible for addressing any patient complaints and concerns that arise during the project.
Required Qualifications: The consultant must possess a university degree in medical sciences, along with a postgraduate degree in Public Health or a related health field. Essential qualifications include a strong understanding of community health programs, the ability to think independently and strategically, and proven skills in organizing advocacy and training workshops. The consultant should also demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to diplomatically engage with senior-level national counterparts.
Educational Background: A university degree in medical sciences is required, complemented by a postgraduate degree in Public Health or a related health field. This educational background is essential to ensure the consultant has the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively support Sudanese renal failure patients and navigate the complexities of healthcare delivery in Egypt.
Experience: The consultant should have at least seven years of working experience in infectious diseases epidemiology, virology, or public health. This level of experience is crucial for understanding the healthcare challenges faced by the Sudanese community in Egypt and for effectively implementing the project’s objectives.
Languages: Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in both languages is essential for effective communication with patients, healthcare providers, and stakeholders involved in the project.
Additional Notes: The consultancy is planned to take place from June 22, 2025, to April 21, 2026, on a part-time basis, totaling 80 days of work. The selected consultant will be expected to provide a medical certificate of fitness for work prior to commencing their duties. This position is critical in ensuring that Sudanese renal failure patients receive the necessary healthcare services and support during their treatment.
