Job Overview: As a Junior Engineer within the Site Asset Management (SAM) Group of the Site and Civil Engineering (SCE) Department at CERN, you will play a crucial role in the planning, design, and execution of maintenance and operational activities for site infrastructure. Your primary focus will be on coordinating and supervising small-scale civil engineering projects, particularly the installation of temporary life bases (modular huts) across the CERN site. These facilities will serve various personnel, including CERN staff, contractors, and external companies, especially in preparation for the upcoming Long Shutdown (LS3). You will manage the entire lifecycle of each project, ensuring that all activities align with safety standards and project timelines. This position offers a dynamic and multidisciplinary working environment, where you will collaborate closely with experienced civil engineering technicians and site supervisors, as well as with the Civil Engineering Design and Geomatics teams.
Duties and Responsibilities: Your key responsibilities will include managing the full lifecycle of civil engineering projects, which encompasses contract management with modular hut suppliers, on-site supervision, and ensuring that installation activities are conducted in accordance with established schedules and safety standards. You will coordinate with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure technical compliance and will be responsible for reporting progress on the projects. Additionally, you will supervise small civil engineering works, such as the installation of concrete slabs, trenches, and utility connections, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
Required Qualifications: To be eligible for this position, you must be a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State. You should have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or a related field. Your highest educational qualification must be either a Bachelor's or Master's degree. It is important to note that applicants without a university degree are not eligible, and those with a PhD are also not eligible for this position. Strong project coordination and planning skills, as well as effective communication abilities, are essential for success in this role.

In terms of compensation, the monthly stipend ranges between 5196 and 5716 Swiss Francs, net of tax.
