Job Overview:

The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Section Chief and relevant officers, contributing significantly to the Section's work. The role is designed for individuals who are eager to engage in research and analysis related to sustainable economic development, governance, and poverty reduction in Africa. Interns will be expected to work full-time, five days a week, for a duration of six months, gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic environment that supports the mission of the ECA. The internship provides an opportunity to develop skills in research, publication editing, stakeholder engagement, and event organization, all while contributing to the overarching goals of the ECA.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's daily responsibilities will vary based on their background, skills, and the priorities of the Development Planning Section. Key duties may include: conducting research and analysis on topics related to sustainable economic development and governance; providing editorial support for publications and documents; liaising with stakeholders within the MFGD; assisting in the organization of meetings and events; supporting outreach activities; participating in the operational tasks of the Division, which may involve responding to information requests, developing presentations, and collaborating with partner organizations; and performing administrative tasks as assigned. The intern will play a crucial role in supporting the Section's objectives and will have the opportunity to engage with various aspects of development planning and economic governance.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for the internship, applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second-level university degree or equivalent) or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (bachelor's level or equivalent). Additionally, applicants must demonstrate computer literacy in standard software applications. A strong interest in the work of the United Nations and a commitment to its ideals are essential. Candidates should also exhibit the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs, showing tolerance and understanding of differing opinions.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program or the final year of a bachelor's degree program. This educational background is crucial as it ensures that the intern possesses the necessary theoretical knowledge and analytical skills to contribute effectively to the work of the Development Planning Section.
