Job Overview:
The Head of the Security Systems Unit (SSU) is a pivotal role within the Infrastructure Services Section (ISS) of the IAEA's Division of Information Technology. This position involves managing a team of ICT security engineers and overseeing the engineering and administration of central IT security systems. The incumbent is expected to integrate and review IT security across all systems on the network, providing technical leadership and resource management. The role requires a deep understanding of IT security, including threat analysis and vulnerability management, and involves documenting and optimizing operational security processes. The SSU Head will also advise on the planning, design, and implementation of security systems, ensuring that the organization's IT infrastructure remains resilient and secure against potential threats. This position is critical in maintaining the integrity and security of the IAEA's information systems, which serve over 2,500 staff and more than 10,000 external users globally.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the SSU Head include leading the delivery of technical enterprise services across various domains such as infrastructure security, application security, network security, and security incident monitoring and response. The incumbent will manage the technical tools portfolio for security information and event management (SIEM), endpoint detection and response (EDR), email protection, threat and vulnerability management (TVM), and systems hardening tools. Additionally, the SSU Head will oversee the secure implementation of enterprise capabilities operating in a hyper-converged, multi-cloud infrastructure environment. The role involves advising the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Section Heads on relevant cybersecurity trends and strategic developments necessary to enhance the organization's overall security posture. The SSU Head will also develop and lead the implementation of long-term improvements for security management services and capabilities, manage the delivery of managed security service providers, and support governance frameworks such as ISO 27001, COBIT, and CIS.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an accredited certification in IT Security and/or Information Security, such as CISSP or an equivalent qualification. A Master's (advanced) degree in Computer Science, IT Management, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree in IT or a related field, combined with two additional years of relevant experience, may be considered in lieu of the advanced degree. An accredited certification in Project Management, such as PMP or Prince2, is desirable. The position requires a strong foundation in IT security, information security, and risk management, along with experience in managing large and complex IT security-related projects following established methodologies.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in Computer Science, IT Management, or a related field. Candidates with a first-level university degree in IT or a related field may be considered if they have two additional years of relevant experience. Accredited certifications in IT Security and Project Management are also highly valued and may enhance a candidate's qualifications.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of seven years of professional experience as a systems and/or security engineer in a large and complex IT enterprise environment, ideally with at least 500 servers. Candidates should have a minimum of five years of hands-on experience in configuration, administration, and troubleshooting. Experience in managing a team of highly specialized cross-functional IT specialists is essential, as is familiarity with cloud security and security protection systems, tools, and techniques. Candidates should also have experience with security detection systems and methodologies, including threat analysis, vulnerability management, and security assessments.

Languages:
Excellent oral and written command of English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile.

Additional Notes:
The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package, including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $84,672, subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance. Additional benefits include a variable post adjustment, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses, six weeks of annual leave, home leave travel, a pension plan, and health insurance.
