Job Overview: The Graphic Design & Multimedia Volunteer position at ERONet is a creative role that supports the organization's participation in The Human Race 2025, a global virtual event aimed at raising awareness for the empowerment of rural girls in Northern Uganda. The volunteer will be responsible for designing engaging visuals that will enhance the visibility of ERONet's mission and activities during this campaign. This role is crucial in amplifying the voices of rural girls and promoting the organization's work in education and innovation. The volunteer will work closely with ERONet's team to create promotional materials that align with the campaign's objectives and messaging.
Duties and Responsibilities: The volunteer will undertake a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: creating social media banners, flyers, and posters to promote the Human Race campaign; designing infographics or mini visual reports that illustrate the impact of ERONet's initiatives in girls' education and rural STEM; editing and captioning impact photos and videos for social media platforms; providing mockups of Human Race t-shirt graphics for promotional purposes; and coordinating with the content writer and social media volunteer to ensure that messaging and visuals are aligned. All communication will be conducted via email, LinkedIn, or WhatsApp, and the volunteer will be provided with necessary materials such as logos and example content. ERONet will review all content before it is published, ensuring that the promotional materials meet the organization's standards.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this volunteer position should possess strong graphic design skills, with proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or similar tools. A creative mindset and the ability to produce visually appealing content are essential. The candidate should also have good communication skills to effectively collaborate with the ERONet team and align on project goals. Familiarity with social media platforms and their best practices for visual content is highly desirable.
Educational Background: While there are no strict educational requirements for this volunteer position, a background in graphic design, multimedia arts, communications, or a related field is preferred. Candidates who are currently pursuing or have completed relevant coursework or degrees will be viewed favorably.
Experience: Previous experience in graphic design, particularly in creating promotional materials for campaigns or events, is highly beneficial. Candidates who have volunteered or worked with nonprofit organizations, especially in roles related to communications or marketing, will have an advantage. A portfolio showcasing previous design work will be required to demonstrate the candidate's skills and creativity.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communication and materials will be in English. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in Uganda, such as Luo or Swahili, would be considered a plus but is not required.
Additional Notes: This is a volunteer position associated with a global social impact campaign, and it is expected to be part-time, with flexible hours leading up to the event. The volunteer will receive a UNV Certificate of Appreciation upon completion of the assignment, recognizing their contribution to the campaign. The role is open to both local and international volunteers, and there are no financial compensations involved, as it is a volunteer opportunity.
