Job Overview:
The Project Manager for Vaccines in OEP PPR will play a crucial role in leading and coordinating efforts to manage vaccine preventable diseases and immunization strategies within the Eastern Mediterranean Region. This position requires expert project management skills to establish a regional workplan for vaccines, ensuring that national plans are aligned with WHO's objectives. The role involves convening regional meetings and workshops to foster collaboration among countries and WHO country offices, focusing on preparedness and response activities as needed. The Project Manager will also be responsible for driving accountability for progress against deliverables and operational improvements across regions, working closely with global teams to enhance vaccination activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Establish and manage a regional workplan for vaccines in OEP PPR, ensuring alignment with WHO objectives.
  • Collaborate with countries and WHO country offices to develop and implement joined-up national plans for vaccines.
  • Organize and facilitate regional coordination meetings, events, and workshops to align on vaccination plans and activities.
  • Focus on preparedness activities while being flexible to respond to regional needs as they arise.
  • Work closely with global teams, particularly in UHL, MHP, and WHE, to enhance vaccination efforts.
  • Drive accountability for progress against deliverables and workplan, ensuring operational improvements are achieved.
  • Maintain a repository of PPR-related tools and guidance to inform potential public health emergencies (PHEs).

Required Qualifications:
  • Significant project management experience, particularly in matrixed and cross-partner settings.
  • Strong knowledge of policies, systems, and procedures in global public health settings.
  • Experience working in a multilateral environment.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and creative mindset.
  • Strong political acumen and ability to drive change in complex, intercultural environments.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.

Educational Background:
Essential: A Master's degree in epidemiology or public health is required. Desirable: Additional training in immunization, health emergency management, outbreak preparedness, and responses is preferred.

Experience:
Essential: A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in public health, international development, or a related field is required. Desirable: Experience in immunization programs or health systems is considered a strong asset.

Languages:
Essential: Expert knowledge of English is mandatory. Desirable: Intermediate knowledge of French and Arabic is preferred, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.

The position offers a competitive remuneration package, starting at an annual base salary of USD 84,672, with additional benefits including a variable post adjustment reflecting the cost of living, 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
