Interns will work under the general guidance of the Chief of the Office of Internal Oversight (C/OIO) and will be expected to assist OIO staff members in various tasks related to audit and evaluation projects. This role provides a unique opportunity for interns to gain hands-on experience in the field of internal oversight within an international organization, enhancing their understanding of ICAO's work and the broader UN system. Interns will engage in research, data collection, analysis, and the preparation of reports, thereby contributing to the effectiveness of the OIO's functions. The internship will also facilitate networking opportunities with ICAO colleagues and other UN community members, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for supporting team members in specific audit and evaluation assignments, which may include undertaking research, studies, and reviews as assigned. They will assist with data collection and analysis for audit and evaluation projects, support the preparation of audit and evaluation reports, findings, and recommendations, and consolidate oversight recommendations from various internal and external audits and evaluation reports. Additionally, interns will coordinate meetings with stakeholders, including scheduling, agenda preparation, and minute-taking. They will help maintain documentation and working papers according to professional standards, support the desk review of documentation, and design, launch, and follow up on surveys. Interns may also be required to perform other duties as needed to support the OIO team.
Required Qualifications: Candidates are required to have completed or be enrolled in a graduate degree programme (second-level university degree or higher) in a field related to audit, evaluation, economics, data science, management, social science, computer science, or political science. For applicants pursuing studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages, completion of at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards a degree is required. Experience in auditing, evaluations, monitoring, programmes, or operations is considered an asset, providing candidates with a competitive edge in the selection process.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes being enrolled in or having completed a graduate degree programme in relevant fields such as audit, evaluation, economics, data science, management, social science, computer science, or political science. Candidates from educational systems that do not differentiate between undergraduate and graduate studies must have completed a minimum of four years of full-time university studies or equivalent. Interns are expected to work remotely or from the ICAO Office in Montreal for five days a week, on either a full-time or part-time basis. It is important to note that interns shall not be eligible for any other form of employment within ICAO during the internship period and will not be eligible to apply for or be appointed to any post in the Secretariat or be contracted for any other remunerated employment with ICAO for six months following the end of their internship.
