Job Overview: The Program Officer (PO) for US Corporate Climate Engagement will play a crucial role in supporting WWF's initiatives aimed at fostering corporate partnerships that drive climate action. This position involves working closely with the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Deputy Director of Corporate Climate Engagement to manage and support over two dozen corporate climate partnerships and the WWF Climate Business Network. The PO will assist companies in setting and implementing science-based climate targets, navigating greenhouse gas accounting, and promoting the transition to a low-carbon economy. The role requires a hybrid work model, necessitating in-office presence at least two days a week, specifically on Tuesdays and Thursdays, at the WWF headquarters in Washington, DC.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Program Officer will be responsible for engaging corporate climate partners in setting science-based targets and net-zero commitments, developing emission reduction strategies, and mobilizing suppliers. Key responsibilities include:
Supporting corporate climate target setting and implementation by engaging partners on greenhouse gas emissions accounting and strategies.
Managing corporate relationships by developing proposals, work plans, and maintaining routine communications with partners.
Contributing subject matter expertise in carbon accounting, climate mitigation strategies, and renewable energy procurement.
Providing technical support through literature reviews and report contributions.
Collaborating with various teams within WWF to advance corporate climate partnerships and initiatives.
Performing additional duties as assigned by the manager, ensuring alignment with WWF’s mission and goals.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a foundational and growing knowledge of corporate climate mitigation strategies, with experience in accounting for and reporting corporate value chain emissions, particularly through the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. Preference will be given to those with experience in corporate climate target setting and engagement with the business community. Strong organizational, research, writing, and analytical skills are essential, along with the ability to manage projects effectively and communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders.
Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in Climate Science, Environmental Science/Management, Business, Engineering, Economics, Public Policy, Industrial Ecology, or a related field is required. Candidates with a minimum of 4 years of relevant program or professional experience will be considered, while those with an advanced degree need at least 2 years of experience. Knowledge of corporate sustainability, greenhouse gas accounting, and relevant platforms is highly desirable.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 4 years of professional experience in program management or related fields. Candidates with an advanced degree should have at least 2 years of relevant experience. Experience in corporate climate target setting and familiarity with the business community will be advantageous.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, with strong oral and written communication skills being essential for effective interaction with corporate partners and stakeholders. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not required.
Additional Notes: This is a hybrid position requiring in-office work at least two days a week. The salary range for this position is between $67,000 and $83,60
