The intern will work under the supervision of the Administrative Officer in the Human Resources Advisory and Client Management Unit. The role involves a variety of communications and project management activities, particularly in supporting the Regional Human Resources Working Group (R-HR WG). The intern will be expected to assist in the daily operations of the R-HR WG, manage communications, and contribute to outreach efforts aimed at enhancing the visibility of the group. This position is ideal for individuals looking to develop their skills in a multicultural environment while gaining insights into the administrative functioning of the United Nations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will undertake a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: supporting the Co-Chairs of the R-HR WG in their daily activities; liaising with facilitators, speakers, and trainers for various activities; managing the scheduling and calendar of the R-HR WG; serving as the communication focal point for the group; contributing to outreach efforts to different United Nations entities; researching and proposing ideas for information sessions and promotional events; preparing information sessions; producing and reviewing information products such as announcement messages, audio-visual presentations, and brochures; tracking the preparation of necessary documentation; determining the structure of the R-HR WG repository for presentations and reference documents; ensuring the integrity of the repository; collecting and analyzing feedback from stakeholders; and performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria at the time of application: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). No prior work experience is required, but relevant training, education, or skills that can benefit the United Nations during the internship are encouraged. Competencies such as professionalism, effective communication, and planning and organizing are essential for success in this role.
Educational Background: Candidates should have a background in fields related to human resources, communications, project management, or any other relevant area. A graduate degree or a bachelor's degree nearing completion is preferred, as it aligns with the responsibilities of the internship and the objectives of the United Nations.
Experience: While no specific work experience is required for this internship, candidates should demonstrate relevant skills and knowledge that can contribute to the work of the United Nations. This may include academic projects, volunteer work, or other experiences that showcase the candidate's ability to engage in a professional environment and contribute to team efforts.
Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Additional Notes: This internship is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of five days per week, totaling 35 hours.
