Job Overview: The position of Consultant is focused on the evaluation of the baseline activities of the sub-component 2.2, which aims to professionalize pedagogical humanities within the framework of the EFFICACE project. The consultant will be responsible for conducting a comprehensive assessment of the competencies of key actors involved in the educational reform in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). This role involves defining key indicators for implementation, evaluating the competencies of teachers and facilitators before the intervention, and proposing essential recommendations for the successful implementation of activities. The consultant will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure that the educational transformation aligns with the overarching goals of improving teaching quality and inclusivity in the education system. The consultant will also be responsible for developing a conceptual note for the study, creating data collection tools, and leading the data collection process, analysis, and reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will have a range of responsibilities including:
Developing the conceptual note for the study, outlining the objectives and methodology.
Creating data collection tools that are effective and relevant to the study's goals.
Defining a training plan for administrators and conducting training sessions.
Leading the data collection process in the designated intervention areas.
Analyzing the collected data and drafting a comprehensive report that includes findings and recommendations.
Presenting the study's findings and disseminating the report to relevant stakeholders.
Supporting the international consultant in various tasks, including supervising data collection teams and assisting in the analysis and report writing process.
Facilitating workshops for the development of data collection tools and ensuring effective communication among team members.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree at the Bachelor's or Master's level in fields such as exact sciences, education, or other relevant social sciences. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a strong background in research methodologies and evaluation processes, particularly in the context of education. The consultant should have proven experience in conducting impact evaluations and should be familiar with the educational landscape in the DRC. Strong organizational and planning skills are essential, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
Educational Background: A university degree at the Bachelor's or Master's level in relevant fields such as education, social sciences, or exact sciences is required. This educational background should provide the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to effectively conduct research and evaluations in the educational sector.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in research related to the humanities, particularly in education. Experience in conducting impact evaluations in the DRC is highly desirable. The consultant should also have a track record of collaborating on the development of reports for various studies and should possess strong planning and organizational skills to manage research activities effectively.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the language of the report writing. Candidates should also demonstrate good listening, communication, and facilitation skills in French to effectively engage with stakeholders and present findings.
